NBA Fast Break Run 6 | Day 2

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 40 Rebounds and 4 Blocks to earn your win.

Overview:

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and/or Happy Holidays to you. Today marks an NBA Holiday Hoops tradition and is a notable date for NBA Top Shot. For the first time in Fast Break history, there are two simultaneous Fast Breaks which is unlikely to be the last. The standard edition continues for another 11 days beyond today whereas the Holiday of Hoops spans three days using only three players where there are daily prizes for the top 1,000 players. If you are a tome+ subscriber, be sure the check the exclusive special article that covers the three (3) days.

There are ten teams in action today and hopefully the outcome is better than Fast Break Day 1 where only 84 participants came away with a win. Steph Curry is a household name, known for his three point shooting. On Day 1, he made only two (2) three pointers to go with his shockingly low 10 point showing, which earns him the not-so-coveted Fast Break Dud of the Day Award. Frankly, no one in the top five utilized players exceeded the necessary points threshold - Ant had 16, Herro had 17, KD had 23, and LaMelo had 23 (but also 5 3PM). Unless you had SGA (41), Jaylen Brown (35), Joker (32), Maxey (32), and/or Anunoby (31), you likely weren’t in the group of winners. If not, let’s collectively shake it off and bring home a winner today.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 2 requires five (5) players who will gather 40.0 rebounds and accumulate 4 or blocks, which means your lineup will need to average 8.0 REB & 0.8 BLK per player. There are multiple players who can contribute to both objectives, so your options are wide. There are days this run that should take priority over today, but avoid looking too far ahead and hamstring today’s relatively easy objective.

  • Little of Both: Anthony Davis

  • Board Crashers: Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Davis, Nikola Jokic

  • Shot Blockers: Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Davis, Kristaps Porzingis, Dereck Lively, Joel Embiid, OG Anunoby

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: R. Gobert (82%), A. Davis (78%), K. Porzingis (58%), K. Towns (57%), P.J. Washington (36%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 40 rebounds & 40 field goals made are needed and there are 18 teams in action

  • Objectives (after today):

    • 2x: FGM, STL, PIP

    • 1x: FGA, AST, 3PA, +/-, OREB, AST-TO, 3PM, PTS, REB, BLK

Considerations:

  • Every team has between 5-7 games scheduled

  • Each day, there are at least 10 teams in action

  • Both +/- and AST-TO make an appearance in Run 6 (Day 10 & 13)

  • Day 10 & Day 13 are looking to be the most challenging of this run

  • 8 of 13 days have two objectives; 5 have a single objective

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected rebounds & blocks according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Run 6 Rewards (Preview):

  • Daily Reward: Top 250 each day will receive varying amounts of Top Shot Credit

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 6 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Brutal day one for most, including us. We were off the pace by 3 points and 1 three pointer, so it felt close but not close enough. Day 2 will hopefully yield a better result.
