NBA Fast Break Run 5 | Day 11

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 125 Points Scored to earn your win.

Overview:

With only two days remaining in Fast Break Run 5, we are down to only 9 participants with a perfect record. With over 8,800 participants, this will likely be the new high watermark for Fast Break participants in the 2024-2025 season. With 4-5 more regular season Fast Break runs remaining and the incremental growth each run, that watermark will likely be crested again as we are on track to seeing 10,000 participants in one of these runs. With NBA Top Shot offering first time participants the opportunity to play without owning a single moment, they have seen conversions to continued participation which means new moment buyers. With the gradual influx of new collectors, the 10K participation mark is a matter of when, not if.

Fast Break Day 10 saw just 44% of participants walk away with a win. Isaiah Hartenstein led the way with 18 rebounds to help Oklahoma City beat the Miami Heat on the road. Since he wasn’t one of the top five players utilized, he earns honorable mention for Fast Break Stud of the Day. That award goes to Jarrett Allen (87% of lineups) & Bam Adebayo (40% of lineups) who both delivered 10 solid rebounds for their respective teams. Andre Drummond (50% of lineups), however, earns the Fast Break Dud of the Day as he only grabbed two (2) rebounds in 10 minutes of game time for Philadelphia as Joel Embiid returned from his sinus fracture.

If you have at least seven (7) wins, you still have a chance at the 9-win pack. If you have at least four (4), you have a chance at the 6-win pack. The final two days aren’t easy considering the end of a run means more limited player options. Layer that with the broad stroke of injuries (Luka remains sidelined for example), it makes for an already challenging Day 11 & 12 that more difficult. As such, it’ll be interesting to see what lineups end up on top. As you prepare for Fast Break Run 6, Witty’s Player Targets (tome+ exclusive) has been updated through December 20, 2024. Now, let’s get into today’s objective.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 11 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 125.0 or more points scored, which means your lineup will need to average 25.0 PTS per player. This is a straightforward objective, but can be elusive as it requires you to identify 4-5 players who have a strong outing. Unless you have one player who scores 40+, it is often difficult to make up for 1-2 poor showings and/or in-game injuries. So, today is more about avoiding the big deficits and/or finding that player who’s feeling their shot tonight than it is about combing through the projections and stats. With 10 days behind us and many of your top options unavailable (unless you planned ahead and aren’t impacted by injuries), you’ll likely select further down your list than you’d prefer. That is apparent considering Jayson Tatum is (currently) the highest utilized player, but is only included in 54% of lineups.

  • Point Scorers: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: J. Tatum (54%), K. Durant (42%), T. Herro (41%), K. Towns (41%), G. Antetokounmpo (32%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 35 points in the paint & 10 three pointers made will be the two objectives; there are 6 teams in action

Considerations:

  • Day 12 will only have six (6) teams in action

  • New Orleans & Sacramento have the most number of games remaining (2)

  • Charlotte & Oklahoma City have no games remaining

  • Every other team has one (1) games remaining (see Fast Break Grid)

  • Cleveland, Miami, Milwaukee, & Philadelphia are playing the tail end of a back-to-back

  • Plan your lineups around Day 12 as it requires the most divergent stats of this run - points in the paint & three pointers made

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected points scored according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Day 10 ended similarly to Day 8 & 9, but partially due to personal conflicts. With the holiday, I have been unable to stay on top of injuries and late scratches, so I kept Mark Williams in the lineup when he was ruled out. Either way, we took another L. With two days remaining, we still have a chance at earning he 6-win pack.
