NBA Fast Break Run 5 | Day 10

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 40 Rebounds to earn your win.

Overview:

We are in the home stretch in this Fast Break run with only three days remaining. If you have at least six (6) wins this run, you’re still in the running for the 9-win pack. Anything less and you’re likely pushing for the 6-win reward. Of the close to 8,700 participants, only 13 remain perfect and have a chance at the top reward of tickets, airfare, and accommodations to the NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco, CA. The new tournament-style format was recently announced, which puts an interesting spin on notoriously non-competitive games. Whether it works is left to be seen, but it is a welcome change to an otherwise boring game. No word yet on changes or participants to the Dunk Contest, Skills Contest, etc.

Of the top players used on Day 9, LaMelo had the most made field goals with 11 and earns the Fast Break Stud of the Day with honorable mentions going to SGA & KD as they both delivered 15 apiece (33% of the yesterday’s goal). If you used Jaylen Brown, De’Aaron Fox, or Anthony Edwards, you likely weren’t upset with their performance, but each let their lineups down as they topped out at 7 field goals made each. Not bad as it was two off the required pace, but it was two off the required pace on an already challenging day. Although none deserve being called a Dud, they sure looked like Duds yesterday. In total, only 47% earned a win on Day 9 and I suspect some of those lineups included 2 or 3 of these players.

At the conclusion of Fast Break Run 5, there will be multiple opportunities to earn dapper (rare = $10; legendary = $100), moments, etc. which includes a special edition Grail Seeker pack which includes many Deck the Hoops moments. Top Shot led initiatives have the greatest reach, which is apparent as there are very few rares below $10. The challenge though, is maintaining that momentum with implementation and execution. Alternatively (and if you’re fast enough), you can claim a moment courtesy of Tome Collective in articles, X posts, etc. If you have not had a chance to read the latest NBA Top Shot blog, it is worth the <10 minute read. Now, let’s dig into today’s objective.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 10 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 40.0 or more rebounds, which means your lineup will need to average 8.0 REB per player. This is a straightforward objective, which relies heavily on players who hover around the basket for any and all rebounds. One player having an off day with 5.0 or less rebounds means the rest of your squad will need to pick up the slack. Multiple players who aren’t close to the threshold will likely sink your possibility of earning a win today. On the other hand, if one of your players has a 15+ rebound performance, you should be in good shape to fulfill the day’s objective.

  • Rebounders: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Isaiah Hartenstein, Bam Adebayo

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: J. Allen (89%), E. Mobley (65%), A. Drummond (55%), N. Richards (54%), B. Adebayo (40%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 125 points scored will be the single objective; there are 24 teams in action

  • Remaining objectives after today: PTS, PIP, 3PM

Considerations:

  • Day 12 will only have six (6) teams in action

  • Cleveland, Miami, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Philadelphia, & Sacramento have the most number of games (2)

  • Every other team has one (1) game remaining (see Fast Break Grid)

  • Charlotte & Oklahoma City are playing the tail end of a back-to-back

  • Charlotte & Oklahoma City are playing their last game during this run

  • Plan your lineups around Day 12 as it requires the most divergent stats of this run - points in the paint & three pointers made

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected rebounds according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Run 5 Rewards:

  • Daily Reward: Top 100 each day will receive a Fast Break Rookie Debut pack

  • Milestone Reward: Reach 3, 6, 9, or 12 wins and each tier earns you a pack

    • 3 wins: One (1) Grail Seeker pack

    • 6 wins: One (1) Grail Seeker pack

    • 9 wins: Fast Break pack

    • 12 wins: Perfect Fast Break pack

  • Run Reward: Place in the top 500 overall

    • Rank 1: Two (2) tickets to the NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco, CA including airfare and hotel

    • Rank 2-500: Spendable credit at varying values

Additional Resources:

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Day 9 did not end the way we hoped and the 9-win pack is officially out of reach, but we still need one win to earn the 6-win pack. Of the remaining days, Day 10 & 11 appear to be the most likely to produce a win based on the current lineups. One in three is doable.
