NBA Fast Break Run 5 | Day 8

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 10 Three Pointers Made to earn your win.

Overview:

Fast Break Day 7 proved to be a breeze for the majority as over 90% of over 6,000 participants walked away with a win. We’ve also crested the 8,000 participant mark again and this being the earliest in a run to reach that mark which is a positive trend. Oddly enough, we dropped on perfect record so we are down to 26 with five days remaining in this run (including today).

Of the five most heavily utilized players on Day 7, Cade Cunningham stood out as he distributed 18 assists (72% of total goal) and led the Pistons to an overtime win over the favored Miami Heat. For that performance (and it’s overlap with the Fast Break objectives), he earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day. On the other end, none of the top five players underperformed, so no Duds of this Day to identify.

Milwaukee & Oklahoma City are meeting in Las Vegas, NV to crown the Emirates NBA Cup champion. Before tip off, you have the opportunity to win a Zach LaVine All-Star Game rare moment. Be sure to follow @TomeCollective and guess the total number of points of today’s Final (without going over) before the tip. There will continue to be opportunities to redeem and/or win NBA Top Shot moments for the next eight (8) days. This includes all active tome+ subscriber will have a chance to win an NBA League Pass (or $50 flowty.io shopping spree for international collectors).

As you would not have been able to set your lineup until two days ago, be sure to double-check that you’ve set your Day 8 lineup. You wouldn’t want to take a loss unnecessarily - especially if you’re pushing for the 9-win or perfect rewards.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 8 requires five (5) players who will sink 10 or more three pointers, which means your lineup will need to average 2.0 3PM per player. On any other day where multiple teams were playing, this would be a breeze. But since there are only two (2) teams in action, your options are quite limited. AJ Green will likely be utilized heavily in Fast Break based on his recent play, but he only has a single moment in circulation, so some may be hesitant to buy his moment at the current low since it spiked from $1 to $3 in the past 24 hours. Should both teams start slow or are unusually inaccurate, all Fast Break players will likely have a challenging day also. Either way, all Fast Break participants will likely sweat until the final buzzer depending on how many three pointers are made in the game.

  • Outside Shooters:

    • Tier 1: Damian Lillard

    • Tier 2: AJ Green, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams

    • Tier 3: Gary Trent, Luguentz Dort, Isaiah Joe, Brook Lopez

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: L. Dort (72%), D. Lillard (58%), I. Joe (57%), G. Trent Jr. (50%), A. Green (39%)

Emirates NBA Cup:

Looking Ahead:

  • Day after tomorrow (Dec 19), 45 field goals made out of 55 field goal attempts will be the two objectives; there are 26 teams in regular season action

  • Remaining objectives after today: FGA, FGM, REB, PTS, PIP, 3PM

Considerations:

  • Day 10 & 12 will only have six (6) teams in action

  • Oklahoma City, Milwaukee, New Orleans, & Sacramento have the most number of games (3)

  • Every other team has two (2) games remaining (see Fast Break Grid)

  • No team is playing the tail end of a back-to-back

  • Plan your lineups around Day 12 as it requires the most divergent stats of this run - points in the paint & three pointers made

  • There are no games scheduled for December 18th

  • December 19th is a big day for returns from injury including (tentatively) Paolo Banchero, Zion Williamson, & others

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected three pointers made according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Run 5 Rewards:

  • Daily Reward: Top 100 each day will receive a Fast Break Rookie Debut pack

  • Milestone Reward: Reach 3, 6, 9, or 12 wins and each tier earns you a pack

    • 12 wins: Perfect Fast Break pack

  • Run Reward: Place in the top 500 overall

    • Rank 1: Two (2) tickets to the NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco, CA including airfare and hotel

    • Rank 2-500: Spendable credit at varying values

Additional Resources:

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

That makes five (5) wins, so we are one win away from the mid tier pack. We remain in the running for the 9-win pack, but we’ll need to win 4 of the next 5 days. Day 8, 9, and 11 have the most concerned, but we’ll see how it plays out.
