NBA Fast Break Run 5 | Day 7

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 25 Assists and 5 Steals to earn your win.

Overview:

We’ve reached the midway point of Fast Break Run 5, so there are six days remaining in this run including today. Yesterday, 57% of Fast Break participants earned a win including 27 of the previously perfect 32. This group has already earned the mid-tier pack and are still in the running for the top prize. To still have a chance at earning the 9-win pack, you’ll need to have at least three (3) wins at the moment, but more is always ideal. Including today, there are a few tricky days ahead, so if you have not done so already, be sure to look ahead and plan accordingly.

There were a number of surprising players who contributed minimally on Fast Break Day 5, but the only one in the top five utilized players was Kevin Durant. With that said, he is our Fast Break Dud of the Day. On the other hand, Anthony Davis was used in 45% of lineups and contributed one (1) block and nine (9) free throws - the later of which was clutch for many participants being that it was one of the later games. For his outstanding performance, AD earns yesterday’s Fast Break Stud of the Day. He was initially showing as glitched in the lineup, but that appears to have been remediated.

Looking ahead to tomorrow is the finale of the Emirates NBA Cup. As you would not have been able to set your lineup until yesterday, there’s a good chance you have not set yours. If you have, great! If you have not, be sure to scroll down to the preview and set your Day 8 lineup accordingly.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 7 requires five (5) players who will distribute 25 or more assists and accumulate 5 or more steals, which means your lineup will need to average 5.0 AST & 1.0 STL per player. Both of these stats have their share of challenge, but there are a number of players who are projected to perform well with both objectives. Whether you choose to utilize players who can contribute both or mix in a few specialists, today will likely be a middle of the road type of day as some will find success whereas others will falter.

  • Little of Both: Nikola Jokic, James Harden, De'Aaron Fox

  • Distributors: James Harden, Nikola Jokic, Cade Cunningham, De'Aaron Fox

  • Swipers: Tyrese Maxey, Nikola Jokic, De'Aaron Fox, James Harden, Kris Dunn, Kelly Olynyk, DeMar DeRozan, Donovan Mitchell, Russell Westbrook, Jamal Murray, Keon Ellis, Andre Drummond

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: J. Harden (78%), D. Fox (55%), C. Cunningham (51%), R. Westbrook (51%), & P. George (42%)

Emirates NBA Cup:

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 10 three pointers made will be the single objective and there are only 2 teams in action in the Emirates NBA Cup Final

  • Remaining objectives after today:

    • 2x: 3PM

    • 1x: FGA, FGM, REB, PTS, PIP

Considerations:

  • Day 8 will only have two (2) teams in action (OKC & MIL)

  • Day 10 & 12 will only have six (6) teams in action

  • Sacramento & New Orleans have the most number of games (4)

  • Fourteen (13) teams have two (2) games remaining (see Fast Break Grid)

  • No team is playing the tail end of a back-to-back

  • Plan your lineups around Day 12 as it requires the most divergent stats of this run - points in the paint & three pointers made

  • There are no games scheduled for December 18th

  • December 19th is a big day for returns from injury including (tentatively) Paolo Banchero, Zion Williamson, & others

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected assists & steals according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Run 5 Rewards:

  • Daily Reward: Top 100 each day will receive a Fast Break Rookie Debut pack

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Gobert & Jerami Grant both contributed a single stat, so I was behind the eight ball going into the LAL & MEM game. Fortunately, Anthony Davis, Myles Turner, & Jaren Jackson saved my day. Day 7 should have some volatility to it though considering the assist objective. Then we’ll have another volatile day for the Emirates NBA Cup. With four wins and two losses, my wiggle room for the 9-win pack is virtually nonexistent.
