NBA Fast Break Run 5 | Day 3

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 40 Rebounds to earn your win.

Overview:

Fast Break Day 1 delivered wins to 92% of the Fast Break participants. Fast Break Day 2, on the other hand, leg swept 84% of Fast Break participants and crushed the pursuit of the perfection pack for over 5,000 collectors. Unless the 950+ collectors who have two wins all falter along the way, our dream of going to the NBA All-Star Game is no longer feasible this season. Maybe someday down the road.

If you were one of the 92% who started Steph Curry, he delivered a decent performance as he sank three (3) buckets from outside while chipping in 5 assists, but it wasn’t the kind of big performance that most hoped he could achieve. Mikal Bridges was the 5th most frequently used player in Fast Break lineups yesterday and he fell well short of expectations as he had 2 assists and 1 measly three-pointer (out of five attempts). For that he earns the not-so-coveted Fast Break Dud of the Day. Between the two objectives yesterday, three-pointers proved to be the area of deficiency for most lineups. As Trae took care of over 50% of the needed assists (11) while contributing two (2) three-pointers, he’s your Fast Break Stud of the Day. Honorable mention goes to De’Andre Hunter who sank four (4) three-pointers.

If you’re one of the 957, let’s dive into the numbers to keep the momentum going. If you’re not, let’s get back on track.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 3 requires five (5) players who will gather 40 or more rebounds, which means your lineup will need to average 8.0 REB per player. There are a number of players who can get you 10+ rebounds quickly, but most players hover around 5.0 so plan accordingly. As there are only six teams in action, you have a limited pool of players, but there are plenty who are capable of pulling down at least 10 rebounds.

  • Glass Crashers: Domantas Sabonis, Jakob Poeltl, Bam Adebayo, Yves Missi

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: B. Adebayo (87%), D. Sabonis (84%), J. Poeltl (82%), J. Duren (51%), K. Porzingis (47%)

Objective(s):

  • Tomorrow, 125 points scored will be the single objective and there are 16 teams in regular season action

  • Remaining objectives after today:

    • 2x: PTS, PIP, 3PM

    • 1x: OREB, BLK, FTM, STL, FGA, FGM, AST, REB

Considerations:

  • Day 5 matchups are set and the results will determine the two teams playing on Day 8 in Las Vegas

  • Day 8 will only have two (2) teams in action, which we won’t know until Day 5

  • Day 5 will only have four (4) teams in action

  • Day 3, 10, & 12 will only have six (6) teams in action

  • The four teams who lost in the NBA Cup quarterfinals (Dallas, Golden State, Orlando, & New York) have two (2) games remaining

  • Plan around Day 12 as it requires the most divergent stats of this run - points in the paint & three pointers made

  • There are no games scheduled for December 18th

  • December 19th is a big day for returns from injury including (tentatively) Paolo Banchero, Zion Williamson, & others

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected rebounds according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Run 5 Rewards:

  • Daily Reward: Top 100 each day will receive a Fast Break Rookie Debut pack

  • Milestone Reward: Reach 3, 6, 9, or 12 wins and each tier earns you a pack

    • 12 wins: Perfect Fast Break pack

  • Run Reward: Place in the top 500 overall

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Day 2 was a struggle and ends our run at perfection. We still have eight more wins for the 9-win pack and today should be a rebound win.
