Overview:

As one Fast Break run ends, another begins. There are some notable changes to this run compared to the last as there is an extra day (14 instead of 13), which means you have some additional day of wiggle room to reach the 9 win reward, but it is also one day more you’ll need to win to earn the perfect run pack. Additionally, there are less daily (25) and run-based winners (25), but the rewards are higher. In terms of total dollars, it is virtually identical (roughly $29,000 in Top Shot Credit). This structure though, gives Fast Break participants a greater incentive to hold rares and legendaries of top-tier players along with tie-breaker low serials of those players for the sake of leaderboard placement. It also incentivizes you to be deliberate with your strategy, approach, and lineup plan as it could be the difference between earning rewards or falling short.

With each iteration of Fast Break, the game makers are making slight adjustments to see what works and what doesn’t work. Although the run is a day longer, the two most volatile objectives (assists minus turnovers & +/-) were excluded this run. In addition to further tinkering, anticipate the addition of head-to-head challenges, weekly checklists, etc. to NBA Top Shot which will add to the overall experience. Execution and communication will be key, though, which have been points of criticism in the past. Cautious optimism is in the air, which describes this run in a nutshell. Start Run 7 off on the right foot and get a win today.

Fast Break Day 1 requires five (5) players who will make 45.0 or more field goals, which means your lineup will need to average 9.0 FGM per player. Although straightforward, this is a high target and you’ll need high volume shooters to achieve today’s objective. One player with an off day could spell doom for your lineup, but one player who has a “video game numbers” type day could carry you to a win. May luck be on your side and you are able to avoid the former scenario.

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Fresh start. Fresh opportunity to reach that 9-win reward. With the additional five slots to fill without using anyone twice was challenging, but we were able to accomplish the task at hand. Inevitably, changes will be needed throughout the run due to injuries, unexpected scratches, and adjustments based on projections.
