WNBA Fast Break Classic | 2025 Playoffs | Day 9

Today’s Objective(s): 20 Field Goals Made & 30 Field Goal Attempts

Overview:

Las Vegas and Phoenix are one win away from reaching the WNBA Finals. Phoenix, earning a big win at home, will not have Napheesa Collier on the other side to deal with as she will be out the remainder of the playoffs with a leg injury she sustained at the end of Game 3. Las Vegas is also looking strong and will have their sights on ending their series today.

WNBA Recap: September 26th

Young Shines in Homecoming, Aces Push Fever to Brink (LVA 84, IND 72)

Jackie Young dropped 25 points in her home state and Chelsea Gray added 15 with 6 assists as the Las Vegas Aces beat the Indiana Fever 84–72 in Game 3, taking a 2–1 lead in the semifinals. A’ja Wilson struggled from the field (6-of-20) but still posted 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Indiana rallied from a 10-point second-quarter deficit to lead briefly in the third, but Vegas clamped down defensively and pulled away late. Lexie Hull notched a double-double (16 points, 10 boards), and Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 21, but the short-handed squad couldn’t sustain momentum.

Mercury Rally Past Lynx, One Win from Finals (PHO 84, MIN 76)

Phoenix outlasted Minnesota 84–76 to take a 2–1 edge in the semifinals, fueled by Satou Sabally’s 23 points and Alyssa Thomas’s 21-point, 9-assist outing. Napheesa Collier led the Lynx with 17 points but exited late in the fourth quarter with an apparent ankle injury, a tough blow for Minnesota as they struggled to close. Phoenix flipped a six-point deficit with a 13–2 run, locking in defensively and converting key possessions to seal the win.

Fast Break Results: Day 8

53% of Fast Break participants earned a win, which was the eighth straight day where more than 50% of collectors earned a win, but it was the first that fell below 60%. With at least five more days in this final WNBA run, most collections are strained and are scraping the bottom of the barrel to reach the eight win objective. Should you have an extensive collection of legendary moments (including those on Las Vegas and Phoenix who are favored to reach the Finals), you’re sitting pretty and on track to earn the run-based rewards.

A’ja Wilson was utilized in 25% of lineups and was the fifth most among players and she delivered the most well-rounded of the top five as she contributed 3 blocks and a steal. With her performance, she earned the Fast Break Star of the Day award.

WNBA Playoff Semifinals: Best of Five Series

Indiana Fever @ Las Vegas Aces | 3:00PM ET | 7:00PM UTC (Aces Lead 2-1)

The Las Vegas Aces host the Indiana Fever tonight in Game 4 with a chance to punch their ticket to the Finals. A’ja Wilson, already crowned MVP for the fourth time, continues to anchor Vegas’s dominance on both ends, while Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young have elevated the perimeter attack with timely shot-making and defensive pressure. Indiana will need a monster outing from Aliyah Boston in the paint and Kelsey Mitchell on the perimeter to extend the series, but Vegas’s depth and playoff experience give them a clear edge. Expect the Aces to push pace early and test Indiana’s rotations with relentless ball movement and physicality.

Phoenix Mercury @ Minnesota Lynx | 8:00PM ET | 12:00AM UTC (Mercury Lead 2-1)

In Phoenix, the Mercury host the Minnesota Lynx for Game 4 of a series that’s shifted dramatically with Napheesa Collier sidelined. With Minnesota’s star forward out, the Lynx will lean heavily on Kayla McBride, Courtney Williams, and Alanna Smith to generate offense and maintain defensive structure. Phoenix counters with Alyssa Thomas, who’s been everywhere—scoring, rebounding, facilitating—and Kahleah Copper, whose downhill pressure continues to challenge Minnesota’s perimeter defense. With the series intensity rising and the Mercury at home, expect a physical, fast-paced clash where Thomas’s versatility could be the difference.

You’ll need five (5) players who will make 20.0 and take 30.0 or more field goals, which means each player will need to average 4.0 FGM & 6.0 FGA. Each series could be over today should Vegas and/or Phoenix win, which means Day 10 could have zero, two, or four teams in action depending on the outcome of today’s games. At this point, most lineups are strained. Put forth your best effort with emphasis on Indiana and Minnesota as this could be their last game of the season.
