WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 9 | Day 1
Today’s Objective(s): 20 Points in the Paint & 5 Offensive Rebounds
Overview:
Eight runs down and two more to go before the WNBA Playoffs tip off. A fresh run means your collections have reset, so your lineup options today are wide open. There is also one less day in this run than the previous, but the win-based rewards were adjusted based on the total number of daily games this run.
This is about the time of the year when collectors look to offload moments before the playoffs begin to maximize value. It could also be a great buying opportunity for top tier players on title contender teams.
If you have historical players in your collection, be sure to set your lineups before the 15 games begin. Don’t know who to start? Be sure to check today’s article for Day 3 of the historic Fast Break run.
WNBA Score(s): August 24th
Storm Edge Mystics in Tight Road Finish (SEA 84, WAS 82)
Seattle held off Washington in a back-and-forth contest that came down to final possessions. The Storm leaned on Skylar Diggins and Nneka Ogwumike for late-game execution, while Gabby Williams and Ezi Magbegor contributed key defensive stops. Washington, led by Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron, kept it close but couldn’t convert in the final minute. Seattle improved to 20–18, strengthening its playoff position, while the Mystics fell to 16–22 and 3.5 games out of the final playoff spot.
Valkyries Bounce Back, Top Wings in Road Win (GSV 90, DAL 81)
Golden State snapped a three-game skid with a win over Dallas, riding a strong second-half surge to pull away. The Valkyries outscored the Wings 47–38 after halftime, with timely buckets and defensive stops that stifled Dallas’ momentum. The Wings, now 9–29, struggled to contain Golden State’s perimeter shooting and transition play. With the win, the Valkyries moved to 19–18, keeping pace in the Western playoff race.
Lynx Hit 30-Win Mark, Hold Off Fever in Minneapolis (MIN 97, IND 84)
Minnesota became the first team to reach 30 wins this season, defeating Indiana in a game that showcased their offensive depth and control. The Lynx outscored the Fever 52–36 across the second and third quarters, flipping an early deficit into a double-digit cushion. Bridget Carleton and Courtney Williams hit key jumpers late, while Alanna Smith and Jessica Shepard anchored the interior. Indiana, still without Caitlin Clark, leaned on Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull to keep pace, but couldn’t recover from a second-quarter scoring drought. The Fever dropped to 19–18, while Minnesota tightened its grip on the top seed at 30–7.
Today’s Matchups:
Connecticut Sun (9-27) @ New York Liberty (22-15) | 7:00PM ET | 11:00PM UTC
At Barclays Center, the New York Liberty host the Connecticut Sun in a matchup that leans heavily toward the home team. With an 88.9% win probability, New York is expected to rebound from a two-game skid behind the steady play of Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. Connecticut, despite winning three straight, has struggled against the Liberty all season—dropping three of four meetings, including a 100–52 blowout on June 1. Tina Charles remains the Sun’s focal point, but New York’s perimeter shooting and defensive pressure make them the projected winner.
Las Vegas Aces (24-14) @ Chicago Sky (9-27) | 8:00PM ET | 12:00AM UTC
Later tonight at Wintrust Arena, the Chicago Sky face the Las Vegas Aces, who enter with an 82% win probability and a chance to complete a four-game season sweep. A’ja Wilson continues her MVP-caliber stretch, while Chelsea Gray orchestrates Vegas’s offense with precision. Chicago will rely on Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese to keep things competitive, but with the Aces riding a ten-game win streak and dominating the paint, they’re projected to control tempo and extend their Western Conference surge.

Today’s Objective(s): Day 1
You’ll need five (5) players who will score 20.0 or more points in the paint and accumulate 5.0 or more offensive rebounds, which means each player will need to average 4.0 PITP & 1.0 OREB. The former is a gimme, which will determine the daily reward rankings. Five offensive rebounds aren’t difficult to come by, but that will likely be the deciding factor between wins and losses.
Whether you have a common or rare A’ja Wilson, LVA only plays two games this run, so she is a must-start considering their next game is Day 3 which requires assists & steals.
