WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 8 | Day 6

Today’s Objective(s): 15 Assists & 3 Steals

Overview:

We have reached the midway point of this run and yesterday shrank the number of perfection to 79 collectors. Today’s objectives will be challenging due to the single game on the W slate. If you’re part of the majority with 3 or 4 wins, you still have a chance at earning the mid-tier reward, which requires 7 wins.

Note that historical Fast Break tips off today also and will span ten (10) straight days. If you haven’t set your lineup, be sure to set it before the first game tips off. Note that the window between games has shrunk considerably, so don’t inadvertently forget to set it. Don’t know who to start? WNBA Score(s): August 19th

Liberty Snap Lynx’s Momentum with Statement Win (NYL 85, MIN 75)

New York handed Minnesota just its sixth loss of the season, winning behind a balanced attack and clutch execution. Jonquel Jones led the Liberty with 21 points and 9 rebounds, while Sabrina Ionescu orchestrated the offense with 7 assists. The Lynx, playing without Napheesa Collier, struggled to contain New York’s perimeter shooting and trailed throughout the second half. The win boosts the Liberty to 22–13 and sends a message to the league’s top seed.

Sun Stun Mystics with Road Efficiency (SEA 80, WAS 69)

Connecticut picked up its seventh win of the season with an road victory over Washington. The Sun controlled the pace early and never relinquished their lead, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities and defensive stops. The Mystics, who had won two straight, couldn’t find rhythm offensively and fell to 16–19. Connecticut’s win snapped a four-game skid and showcased their ability to close out games on the road.

Storm Outlast Sky in Chicago Shootout (SEA 94, CHI 88)

Seattle edged Chicago in a fast-paced contest that saw both teams light it up from deep. Jewell Loyd and Skylar Diggins led the Storm’s offensive charge, while the Sky leaned on Marina Mabrey and Lindsay Allen to keep it close. Seattle’s late-game execution and rebounding edge proved decisive, lifting them to 18–18 and keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Aces Hold Off Dream in Rivals Week Classic (LVA 74, ATL 72)

Las Vegas escaped with a win over Atlanta in a game that featured clutch buckets from A’ja Wilson, including a fadeaway jumper with 1:15 left. Chelsea Gray dished out multiple fourth-quarter assists, while Jewell Loyd and Jackie Young added key scores. Rhyne Howard hit a late three to keep the Dream within striking distance, but Vegas held firm to improve to 22–14. Atlanta dropped to 22–13, snapping a two-game win streak

Mercury Outgun Valkyries in Bay Area Battle (PHO 98, GSV 91)

Phoenix topped Golden State in a high-scoring affair that saw Kahleah Copper and Natasha Cloud combine for a flurry of fourth-quarter points. The Valkyries, led by Iliana Rupert and Veronica Burton, kept pace early but couldn’t contain Phoenix’s late surge. The Mercury improved to 21–13, while Golden State fell to 18–17, snapping their home win streak.

Recap: Day 5

Day 5 had ten teams in action where you needed points in the paint and offensive rebounds, but it was surprisingly challenging of a day compared to the rest of this run. In total, only 19% of Fast Breakers earned a win on a busy Tuesday. Today’s schedule is a polar opposite compared to yesterday as only two (2) teams are in action.

Of the top five players utilized, only one made it on the top five list of performers yesterday, which happened to be A’ja Wilson as she poured in 12 points in the paint along with 4 offensive rebounds. With her stellar performance, she earned the Fast Break Star of the Day.

Today’s Matchups:

Dallas Wings (9-26) @ Los Angeles Sparks (16-18) | 10:00PM ET | 2:00AM UTC

Tonight’s lone WNBA game features the Los Angeles Sparks hosting the Dallas Wings at Crypto.com Arena in a Rivals Week showdown. L.A. enters as the clear favorite, having edged Dallas 97–96 just five days ago and boasting a 73.1% win probability. Kelsey Plum and Dearica Hamby continue to lead the Sparks offensively, with Plum averaging 20.4 points and 6.1 assists. Dallas counters with rookie sensation Paige Bueckers, who’s already eclipsed 500 points and leads the team in scoring and assists.

The Wings are without Arike Ogunbowale and Ty Harris due to injury, placing even more weight on Bueckers and Maddy Siegrist, who’s averaging 16.2 points since returning from injury. With L.A. pushing for playoff positioning and Dallas struggling to close games, the Sparks are projected to control tempo and secure their third win over the Wings this season.
