WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 8 | Day 2
Today’s Objective(s): 25 Field Goals Made & 50 Field Goal Attempts
Overview:
Today marks the first of three days where five games are scheduled and ten teams are in action. These are the days where you have the most flexibility, but today is also one where you shouldn’t set last as the two objectives have a low volume of players who can deliver for both categories.
There are also two days where only two teams are in action and they happen bookend the ten-team days. Plan or adjust accordingly. Also note there are a number of injured players who could make their return later this run.
Note: the next Run It Back drop (Legacy Threads & Phantom Threads) will take place in about five days. Also, you have about four days to lock the various RIB sets to earn an airdrop.
WNBA Score(s): August 13th
Cardoso Commands, Sun Outlast Sky in Defensive Duel (CON 71, CHI 62)
Kamilla Cardoso powered the Connecticut Sun to a win over the Chicago Sky, dropping a game-high 24 points and anchoring a defense that stifled Chicago’s rhythm. Leila Lacan led the Sky with 17, but Connecticut’s interior presence and late-game execution proved decisive. The Sun controlled the tempo and leaned on Cardoso’s post dominance to seal their sixth win of the season, while Chicago struggled to generate consistent offense in the second half.
Burton Blazes Trail, Valkyries Hold Off Mystics (GSV 88, WAS 83)
Veronica Burton lit up the scoreboard with a career-high 30 points as the Golden State Valkyries edged the Washington Mystics in a tightly contested matchup. Sonia Citron paced Washington with 15, but Golden State’s late-game poise and Burton’s clutch shooting lifted them to their 17th win. The Valkyries continue to build momentum behind their guard play and timely scoring, keeping their playoff hopes alive in a crowded Western race.
Loyd Leads Liberty Past Aces in Statement Win (LVA 83, NYL 77)
Jewell Loyd delivered a commanding performance with 21 points to lead the New York Liberty past the Las Vegas Aces in a marquee Rivals Week clash. Emma Meesseman countered with 24 for the Aces, but New York’s defensive intensity and balanced scoring gave them the edge in a game filled with playoff energy. The Liberty’s ability to close out tight games continues to define their season, as they notch another win against a top-tier opponent.
Howard Heats Up, Dream Down Storm in Atlanta (ATL 85, SEA 75)
Rhyne Howard dropped 25 points to propel the Atlanta Dream to a victory over the Seattle Storm. Nneka Ogwumike led Seattle with 29, but Atlanta’s fourth-quarter defense and scoring depth proved too much. The Dream’s ability to respond to Seattle’s runs and lock in defensively down the stretch highlighted their growth and resilience, as they continue to push for a stronger playoff position. These two teams will meet again today, but this time in Canada.
