WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 7 | Day 9
Today’s Objective(s): 25 Field Goals Made & 50 Field Goal Attempts
Overview:
Today is Day 9 of 11 and we have 96 collectors who remain perfect this run. For everyone else, there are three days remaining and three days to accumulate wins to earn the 7-win reward. Today there are ten teams in action and the remainder of this run is limited to 1 or 2 games, so we’re down to the wire with some hurdles ahead. Day 10 will be the most challenging of the three remaining.
So long as you have at least four wins, you still have a chance at the mid-tier reward, which has delivered a Level Up Rare reward the past few runs. Considering they have an inherent value of $10+, that’s worth the push if you have a serviceable collection of WNBA players.
WNBA Score(s):
Fever Surge Past Sky in Statement Win (IND 92, CHI 70)
Indiana rolled to a victory over Chicago at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, asserting control early and never letting up. Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 26 points, while Lexie Hull added 17, stepping up in a reshuffled backcourt after injuries sidelined Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald for the season. Despite missing Caitlin Clark again, the Fever shot a crisp 47.1% from the field, including 8-of-19 from deep, and opened the third quarter with an 8–0 run that ballooned the lead to 20. Aliyah Boston chipped in 15 points, and Sophie Cunningham scored 16, ten of which came before halftime. Chicago, without Angel Reese due to a lingering back injury, struggled to keep pace—Rachel Banham and Maddy Westbeld were the only Sky players to reach double figures. Indiana now leads the season series 3–0 and continues to solidify its playoff positioning even though their injuries continue to mount…and may catch up with them sooner rather than later.
Valkyries Clamp Down, Drop Sparks in Defensive Showcase (GSV 72, LAS 59)
Golden State locked in defensively and pulled away late to secure the win over Los Angeles at Chase Center, taking the season series 3–1 and nudging ahead in the Western Conference playoff race. Veronica Burton led the way with 16 points, while Cecilia Zandalasini scored all 14 of hers in the first half, hitting 4-of-5 from deep before halftime. The Sparks struggled to find rhythm, managing just nine points in the second quarter, and couldn’t recover despite Dearica Hamby’s 15-point effort. Golden State’s fourth-quarter control—outscoring L.A. 16–11—sealed the win and showcased the Valkyries’ ability to close games with composure and perimeter defense.
Recap: Day 8
Day 8 was another successful for the majority as 75% of Fast Breakers earned a win. Kelsey Mitchell led the way as the 5th highest utilized player (44%) and delivered 4 three pointers made out of eight attempts. With her performance, she earned the Fast Break Star of the Day.
On the other end of the spectrum, both Kelsey Plum & Kia Nurse were in the top five of most utilized players (80% & 55% respectively) and they were twinning in their results as they shot 0 for 4 from outside. With their poor showing, they earned the Fast Break co-Duds of the Day.
Today’s Matchups:
Minnesota Lynx (26-5) vs New York Liberty (20-10)
The Minnesota Lynx visit the New York Liberty in a marquee matchup between the league’s top two offenses. New York, despite missing Breanna Stewart, remains formidable at home behind Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. Minnesota, led by Courtney Williams and Alanna Smith, won their last meeting 100–93 and enters as the slight favorite. With Napheesa Collier sidelined, expect a high-scoring duel where New York’s perimeter shooting could keep things close, but Minnesota’s depth gives them the projected edge.
Washington Mystics (13-17) vs Dallas Wings (8-23)
Washington travels to face the Dallas Wings in a battle of rebuilding teams with budding stars. The Mystics are favored, with Sonia Citron and Shakira Austin expected to lead the charge against a Wings squad that’s struggled defensively. Dallas will rely on Arike Ogunbowale and Paige Bueckers to generate offense, but Washington’s rebounding advantage make them the projected winner.
Atlanta Dream (19-11) vs Phoenix Mercury (19-11)
Atlanta and Phoenix square off in a tightly matched contest with postseason implications. The Mercury are slight favorites at home, leaning on Kahleah Copper and Alyssa Thomas to set the tone. Atlanta counters with Allisha Gray and Brionna Jones, who’ve powered the Dream to three wins in their last four. With both teams evenly matched, Phoenix’s home-court edge and interior defense could be the difference.
Seattle Storm (16-15) vs Los Angeles Sparks(14-16)
Seattle visits Los Angeles in a late-afternoon clash with playoff seeding on the line. The Storm are favored, led by Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins, while the Sparks look to build on Cameron Brink’s return and Dearica Hamby’s consistency. Expect a physical, fast-paced game, but Seattle’s defensive structure and perimeter shooting give them the projected advantage.
Connecticut Sun (5-24) vs Las Vegas Aces (17-14)
The Las Vegas Aces host the Connecticut Sun in a game that heavily favors the Aces. A’ja Wilson and Chelsea Gray headline a Vegas squad that’s rounding into form, while Connecticut continues to lean on Tina Charles amid a tough season. With the Aces surging and the Sun struggling to generate offense, Las Vegas is projected to win comfortably.

WNBA Fast Break Grid
It's essential to consider the opponents, recent performance, and any injury updates before finalizing your Fast Break lineup. Additionally, staying up to date on the latest news and adjusting your roster accordingly will enhance your chances of earning a win today.
WNBA Key Dates:
September 11: Regular Season Ends
September 14-October 17: WNBA Playoffs
Power Rankings (Week 10):
There are 44 games in a WNBA Season, so teams have anywhere between 15-17 games remaining. As we are seeing with Indiana & L.A., a string of wins can change the course of the season. The other story is the string of injuries to top tier players like Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, and Kayla Thornton. That’s in addition to Caitlin Clark remaining sidelined; although the Fever have found a way to win consistently without her (and look to be more dangerous when she returns).
With Stewie’s absence, the formidable Liberty look vulnerable. With only 6 wins separating ranks 2-10, any lengthy losing streaks could be devastating to a team’s playoff and championship hopes. This is even true for the Minnesota Lynx as an extended absence from Napheesa Collier could bring this team back down to the pack over the next few weeks.
As we inch closer to the playoffs, every game matters from here until the end of the season.
