WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 7 | Day 8
Today’s Objective(s): 7 Three Pointers Made & 15 Three Point Attempts
Overview:
Today is Day 8 of 11 and we have less than 100 collectors who remain perfect this run. For everyone else, there are four days remaining and four days to accumulate wins to earn the 7-win reward. Tomorrow is the only day where more than two games are scheduled, so be sure to check your lineups to ensure you don’t have any DNPs in your lineup.
WNBA Score(s):
Liberty Roll Past Wings for Third Straight Win (NYL 88, DAL 77)
New York continued its climb with a 88–77 win in Arlington, riding a balanced attack and fourth-quarter burst to pull away. Sabrina Ionescu scored 16, while Emma Meesseman flirted with a triple-double—14 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals. The Liberty opened the fourth on a 13–1 run, capped by a Leonie Fiebich three, and never looked back. Dallas, missing Paige Bueckers, got 17 from Arike Ogunbowale, but couldn’t contain New York’s ball movement or interior finishing. It’s the Liberty’s third straight win—and a sign their depth is clicking.
Lynx Edge Mystics in Late-Game Thriller (MIN 80, WAS 76)
Minnesota, who were without Napheesa Collier again, defended its home court with a gritty 80–76 win over Washington, improving to a dominant 16–1 at Target Center. Alanna Smith led the Lynx with 25 points, including a clutch three-pointer in the final minutes to counter a late surge from Mystics rookie Sonia Citron, who dropped 26 points and hit four threes. Citron tied the game at 76 with under a minute left, but Courtney Williams answered with a baseline jumper, and Kayla McBride iced it at the line. The Mystics had a chance to steal it after a jump ball, but a turnover in the lane sealed their fate. Despite strong outings from Kiki Iriafen and Shakira Austin (12 points each), Washington couldn’t overcome 13 first-half turnovers and a decisive final minute.
Aces Hold Off Storm in Back-and-Forth Battle (LVA 90, SEA 86)
Las Vegas leaned on late-game execution to edge Seattle 90–86 at Michelob ULTRA Arena, tying the season series 2–2. A’ja Wilson led the way with 23 points and 9 rebounds, while Jackie Young added 18, including a clutch jumper in the final minute. The Storm got 20 from Skylar Diggins, but couldn’t convert on key possessions down the stretch. The Aces shot 50% from the field and held Seattle to just 2-of-10 from three in the second half. It’s a third straight win for Vegas—and a reminder that their core knows how to close.
Recap: Day 7
Day 7 was a relatively successful day as over 60% earned a win. A’ja Wilson’s 16 points in the paint and 3 offensive rebounds led the way, which earned her the Fast Break Star of the Day. Maddy Siegrist is your honorable mention with 12 points in the paint and 1 offensive rebound.
Today’s Matchups:
Chicago Sky (8-22) vs Indiana Fever (17-14)
At Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Indiana Fever (17–14) host the Chicago Sky (8–22) in a Midwest rivalry matchup to kick off Rivals Week. Indiana has won all three previous meetings this season, including a 93–78 victory on July 27 behind Kelsey Mitchell’s 35-point outburst. The Fever are favored, with Aliyah Boston anchoring the paint and Mitchell averaging over 20 points across her last ten games. Chicago, missing Angel Reese and Courtney Vandersloot due to injury, will lean on Kamilla Cardoso and Marina Mabrey to stay competitive. With Indiana surging and Chicago on a four-game road skid, the Fever are projected to complete the season sweep.
Los Angeles Sparks (14-15) vs Golden State Valkyries (14-15)
Later tonight at Chase Center, the Golden State Valkyries (14–13) host the Los Angeles Sparks (12–15) in a Western Conference clash with playoff implications. The Valkyries are slight favorites, boasting an 8–4 home record and a top-three rebounding unit led by Temi Fágbénlé. Los Angeles counters with Dearica Hamby and welcomes back Cameron Brink, who returns from injury to bolster the frontcourt. With both teams hovering near the postseason line, expect a physical battle—but Golden State’s defensive edge and home-court rhythm give them the projected advantage.

WNBA Fast Break Grid
It's essential to consider the opponents, recent performance, and any injury updates before finalizing your Fast Break lineup. Additionally, staying up to date on the latest news and adjusting your roster accordingly will enhance your chances of earning a win today.
WNBA Key Dates:
September 11: Regular Season Ends
September 14-October 17: WNBA Playoffs
Power Rankings (Week 10):
There are 44 games in a WNBA Season, so teams have anywhere between 15-17 games remaining. As we are seeing with Indiana & L.A., a string of wins can change the course of the season. The other story is the string of injuries to top tier players like Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, and Kayla Thornton. That’s in addition to Caitlin Clark remaining sidelined; although the Fever have found a way to win consistently without her (and look to be more dangerous when she returns).
With Stewie’s absence, the formidable Liberty look vulnerable. With only 6 wins separating ranks 2-10, any lengthy losing streaks could be devastating to a team’s playoff and championship hopes. This is even true for the Minnesota Lynx as an extended absence from Napheesa Collier could bring this team back down to the pack over the next few weeks.
As we inch closer to the playoffs, every game matters from here until the end of the season.
