WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 6 | Day 7
Today’s Objective(s): 25 Rebounds & 25 Points in the Paint
Overview:
After four days of smooth sailing, we ran into our second straight buzzsaw of this run as only 22% of participants earned a win yesterday. With four days to go (including today), many collectors have picked up their second loss of the series and have limited to no wiggle room for the remainder of this run. There are, however, more than a handful of collectors who are perfect on the series and look to continue that streak today.
WNBA Score(s):
Sun Scorch Valkyries in Blowout Win (CON 95, GSV 64)
Connecticut achieved a rare feat on their frustrating season — they made Golden State look like an expansion team. The Sun dismantled Golden State with a 31-point win, dominating the glass and controlling the paint. Tina Charles and DiJonai Carrington led the charge, while the Valkyries struggled to generate clean looks and were outscored in every quarter.
Mitchell Erupts, Fever Cruise Past Sky (IND 93, CHI 78)
Kelsey Mitchell lit up United Center with a season-high 35 points, including seven threes, as Indiana rolled past Chicago despite missing Caitlin Clark. The Fever jumped out to a 26–13 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, with Makayla Timpson adding a career-best 14 points off the bench. The Sky, without Angel Reese, leaned on Rachel Banham’s 26-point effort, but couldn’t close the gap. For Indiana, it’s a win that reinforces their depth—and Mitchell’s scoring pedigree.
Aces Torch Wings in Offensive Clinic (LVA 106, DAL 80)
Las Vegas looked every bit the contender, dropping 106 points on Dallas in a wire-to-wire road win. The Aces controlled tempo and spacing, with A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young leading a balanced attack. Dallas struggled to contain Vegas’ ball movement and transition game, and couldn’t keep pace despite solid stretches from Arike Ogunbowale. For the Aces, it’s a reminder that when the gears align, their ceiling is still championship-tier.
Mercury Catch Fire, Top Mystics on the Road (PHO 88, WAS 72)
Phoenix snapped out of its post-break haze with a convincing win in D.C., riding a second-half surge to pull away from the Mystics. Brittney Griner and Kahleah Copper anchored the offense, while the Mercury’s perimeter defense kept Washington from finding rhythm. The Mystics showed flashes early but couldn’t match Phoenix’s shot-making down the stretch. For the Mercury, it’s a bounce-back win that steadies their playoff positioning.
Dream Outlast Lynx in Fourth-Quarter Flurry (ATL 90, MIN 86)
Atlanta came into Target Center and survived a late surge by Minnesota after jumping out to a 14-point halftime lead. Allisha Gray and Jordin Canada hit clutch buckets, while the Lynx leaned on Napheesa Collier to stay close. Despite a furious final push, Minnesota couldn’t erase the early deficit. For the Dream, it’s a big road win with playoff implications—and a confidence boost against the league’s best.
Fast Break Recap: Day 6
Day 6 required blocks & points in the paint. As we are beyond the halfway mark of this series, player availability is naturally becoming more limited; especially with mounting injuries to key players who double as stat stuffers. On the bright side, there were ten teams in action yesterday which usually means a broader range of options; however, only 22% of lineups walked away with a win.
Napheesa Collier continues her MVP-leading season and delivered again for collectors as she contributed 18 points and 2 blocks. As she was the 5th most utilized player (37%), she earned the Fast Break Star of the Day. On the other hand, Aliyah Boston only had 4 points in the paint and 2 blocks. Given her high utilization (2nd most) and low output, she is your Fast Break Dud of the Day.
Today’s Matchups:
Seattle Storm (15-11) vs Connecticut Sun (4-20) | 7:00PM ET | 11:00PM UTC
At Mohegan Sun Arena, the Seattle Storm visit the Connecticut Sun with a commanding 84.5% win probability. Seattle’s veteran core—Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins—anchors a squad that’s fifth in the league in assists and trending upward. Connecticut counters with Tina Charles, fresh off a 24-point outing, and Marina Mabrey’s steady backcourt play. While the Sun have struggled this season, Charles’ recent form adds intrigue. Still, Seattle’s defensive structure and road poise make them the projected winner in this fourth meeting of the season.
New York Liberty (17-7) vs Dallas Wings (7-19) | 8:00PM ET | 12:00AM UTC
College Park Center hosts a tough test for the Dallas Wings as they welcome the New York Liberty, who enter with a strong edge and playoff momentum. Sabrina Ionescu & Jonquel Jones headline a Liberty squad that will be without Breanna Stewart, who avoided a serious leg injury in their most recent game. Dallas counters with Arike Ogunbowale and rookie Paige Bueckers to keep pace and hope to pick up a big win against the reigning champions. With New York’s cohesion and Dallas still adjusting to lineup shifts, the Liberty are favored to control tempo and extend their dominance in this East-West clash.
Today’s Objective(s): Day 7
You’ll need five (5) players who will gather 25.0 or more rebounds and accumulate 25.0 or more points in the paint, which means each player will need to average 5.0 REB & 5.0 PITP.
These two objectives are closely correlated, so there are more than a handful who can help you achieve these targets. Points in the paint was required yesterday, but will only need half the mark compared to Day 6. As PITP was the deciding factor for many wins and losses, that is a positive reduction, which may lead to more wins today. With less player options though, there are a handful of players who have a higher probability to get you over the line.

WNBA Key Dates:
September 11: Regular Season Ends
September 14-October 17: WNBA Playoffs
Power Rankings (Week 10):
There are 44 games in a WNBA Season, so teams have anywhere between 17-20 games remaining. This means there are plenty of opportunities to make a run and rise in the rankings. Over the past week, the Sparks have gone 3-0 and 7-3 in their last 10 as they are making a push for one of the coveted playoff spots. Between 4th & 10th, there are only 4 games separating the bunch so every game will matter, but especially the head-to-heads. Chicago, Dallas, & Connecticut are the most likely to not make the cut, but they could have a stretch similar to what we’re seeing in L.A. They’re running out of time though.
