WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 6 | Day 8

Today’s Objective(s): 20 Assists & 5 Three Pointers Made

Overview:

There are three days remaining in this run and many Fast Break participants are 1-3 wins away from the 7-win reward. Only nine collectors remain perfect and they’ve already secured their 7-win reward and have their eyes set on perfection. We saw less than 50% winners for the third straight day after seeing four days where over 70% earned a win. We’re also seeing a higher volume of upsets so far in the second half of this season, so anticipate volatility in the standings leading up to the WNBA Playoffs beginning in September.

WNBA Score(s):

Storm Surge Past Sun in Offensive Showcase (SEA 101, CON 85)

Seattle came into Mohegan Sun Arena and lit it up. The Storm dropped 101 points on Connecticut, riding a balanced scoring effort and third-quarter burst to pull away. Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins orchestrated the offense with pace and precision, while the Sun struggled to contain Seattle’s perimeter movement. Despite a solid start, Connecticut couldn’t keep up with the Storm’s tempo or shot-making. For Seattle, it’s a road win that reinforces their playoff push—and a reminder that when their spacing clicks, they’re a handful.

Wings Flip the Script, Stun Liberty at Home (DAL 92, NYL 82)

Dallas leaned into urgency and got results. The Wings exploded for 63 first-half points, flipping expectations against a Liberty squad missing Breanna Stewart. Paige Bueckers returned to the lineup and helped set the tone, while Arike Ogunbowale delivered clutch buckets to hold off New York’s late push. Sabrina Ionescu kept the Liberty close, but Dallas controlled the glass and tempo early. For the Wings, it’s a bounce-back win with bite—and a blueprint for how they can disrupt the standings down the stretch.

Fast Break Recap: Day 7

Day 7 required rebounds & points in the paint. Between points in the paint and rebounds, there were pain points with both objectives. DiJonai Carrington & Jonquel Jones were two of the most utilized players (the former in 50% of lineups and the latter in 40%). Both contributed equally but in different ways. DiJonai delivered 6 points in the paint and 9 big rebounds. Jonquel contributed 8 points in the paint and 7 rebounds. With their performance, they earned the Fast Break co-Stars of the Day.

After a big performance against the Liberty, Tina Charles underperformed against the Storm contributing only 4 points in the paint and 4 rebounds. With her less than stellar performance, she earned the Fast Break Dud of the Day.

Today’s Matchups:

Golden State Valkyries (11-13) vs Atlanta Dream (15-10)

At Gateway Center Arena, the Atlanta Dream host the Golden State Valkyries in a celebrated matchup with playoff implications. Atlanta enters with a 74.8% win probability and a clear edge in rebounding and defensive efficiency, led by Brittney Griner and Brionna Jones. The Valkyries, losers of four of their last five, will lean on Kayla Thornton and Veronica Burton to keep pace, but Atlanta’s home dominance (8–3) and Allisha Gray’s scoring punch make them the projected winner in this East-West clash.

Chicago Sky (7-18) vs Washington Mystics (12-13)

CareFirst Arena sets the stage for a pivotal Eastern Conference tilt between the Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky. With a 70.8% win probability, Washington looks to capitalize on Chicago’s three-game skid and road struggles. Brittney Sykes and Sonia Citron anchor the Mystics’ two-way play, while Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso remain Chicago’s interior threats. Given Washington’s recent edge in head-to-head matchups and steadier execution, the Mystics are favored to pull away late.

Las Vegas Aces (13-13) vs Los Angeles Sparks (11-14)

At Crypto.com Arena, the Las Vegas Aces visit the red-hot Los Angeles Sparks in a matchup loaded with emotional subtext. Vegas holds a narrow 54.9% win probability, with A’ja Wilson and Chelsea Gray expected to lead the charge. The Sparks welcome back Cameron Brink for her season debut after a year-long ACL recovery, adding intrigue to a lineup already featuring Dearica Hamby and Rickea Jackson. With both teams trending upward post-break, this one could swing late—but Vegas’s championship pedigree gives them the projected edge.

Today’s Objective(s): Day 8

You’ll need five (5) players who will distribute 20.0 or more assists and sink 5.0 or more three pointers, which means each player will need to average 4.0 AST & 1.0 3PM.

There aren’t any players who excel in both categories, but there are a handful of players who can deliver both proficiently. There are also specialists in each category, but Assists will likely be the determining factor of today’s wins. The three point objective is relatively low, but you want to ensure you have players who can deliver multiples in case one of your other players falter.

WNBA Fast Break Grid

It's essential to consider the opponents, recent performance, and any injury updates before finalizing your Fast Break lineup. Additionally, staying up to date on the latest news and adjusting your roster accordingly will enhance your chances of earning a win today.

WNBA Key Dates:

  • September 11: Regular Season Ends

  • September 14-October 17: WNBA Playoffs

Power Rankings (Week 10):

There are 44 games in a WNBA Season, so teams have anywhere between 17-20 games remaining. This means there are plenty of opportunities to make a run and rise in the rankings. Over the past week, the Sparks have gone 3-0 and 7-3 in their last 10 as they are making a push for one of the coveted playoff spots. Between 4th & 10th, there are only 4 games separating the bunch so every game will matter, but especially the head-to-heads. Chicago, Dallas, & Connecticut are the most likely to not make the cut, but they could have a stretch similar to what we’re seeing in L.A. They’re running out of time though.
