WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 5 | Day 6

Today’s Objective(s): 10 Free Throws Made & 20 Assists

WNBA Scores:

Sky Shock Lynx Behind Atkins’ Scoring Burst (Sky 87, Lynx 81)

Chicago flipped the script on the league’s top team. Ariel Atkins dropped a season-high 27 points, while Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso each posted double-doubles to power the Sky past Minnesota in a gritty 87–81 win at Wintrust Arena. The Lynx, who entered with an 18–3 record, couldn’t overcome a sluggish first half and a rebounding deficit that tilted the game Chicago’s way. Napheesa Collier led Minnesota with 26 points, but the Sky’s physicality and clutch shot-making proved decisive. For Chicago, it’s a signature win—and a reminder that even the best can be rattled.

Aces Outlast Valkyries in Wild Shootout (Aces 104, Valkyries 102)

Las Vegas and Golden State traded haymakers in one of the season’s most electric finishes. The Aces escaped with a 104–102 win at Michelob ULTRA Arena, snapping the Valkyries’ late comeback bid in the final seconds. A’ja Wilson’s status was uncertain pregame, but Vegas found offense from across the roster to match Golden State’s pace. The Valkyries, who had won eight of their last twelve, leaned on Kayla Thornton and Temi Fagbenle to stay within striking distance. In a game that felt like playoff preview energy, the Aces held serve—and reminded the league they’re still built for the big moments.

Fast Break Recap: Day 5

Day 5 turned out to be worse than the assists minus turnovers day as less than 50% earned a win. With a required average of 5 rebounds & 5 points in the paint, having one or two players who miss the mark could drag down most lineups.

Although A’ja Wilson, Kamilla Cardoso, and Angel Reese were not one of the most utilized players, they helped their lineups tremendously as each had a double-double in Points in the Paint & Rebounds. So, they’re your honorable mentions considering their impact. Of the top five players utilized, Napheesa Collier earns the Fast Break Stud of the Day award as she contributed 12 points in the paint & 8 rebounds. Jessica Shepard, on the other hand, had a rough outing for the 54% of Fast Break collectors who started her as she could only muster 2 points in the paint and 2 rebounds. With her poor showing, she is your Fast Break Dud of the Day.

Today’s Matchups:

Dallas Wings (6-15) vs Indiana Fever (10-10)

At Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indiana hosts Dallas in a nationally televised matchup that doubles as a showcase for two generational guards. Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers finally meet on the pro stage, with Clark leading a surging Fever squad fresh off a 99-point outing and Bueckers anchoring a depleted Wings roster. Indiana enters with an 80.9% win probability and home-court momentum, while Kelsey Mitchell eyes a franchise record for career threes. With Dallas missing key scorers and Indiana’s offense peaking, the Fever are favored to close out their homestand with a statement win.

Atlanta Dream (12-8) vs New York Liberty (13-6)

The Barclays Center hosts a compelling clash between the New York Liberty (12–6) and Atlanta Dream (12–7), with playoff positioning on the line. New York holds a slight edge with a 59.7% win probability, leaning on Sabrina Ionescu’s floor leadership and Breanna Stewart’s two-way dominance. Atlanta counters with Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, both capable of swinging momentum in transition. Expect a high-scoring affair where Liberty’s depth and home-court edge could be the difference-maker.

Connecticut Sun (3-17) vs Los Angeles Sparks (6-14)

The Connecticut Sun visit the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena, where Tina Charles continues her milestone march after eclipsing 8,000 career points. Despite Charles’ heroics, the Sun face long odds—just a 15.7% win probability—against a Sparks team eager to rebound from a loss to Minnesota. Kelsey Plum and Julie Vanloo headline L.A.’s backcourt, while rookie Saniya Rivers adds defensive bite for Connecticut. With the Sparks owning home-court and the Sun struggling on the road, L.A. is expected to control the tempo and secure the win.

Washington Mystics (10-10) vs Seattle Storm (13-8)

Seattle hosts Washington in a matchup that could swing either way, though the Storm hold a 67% win probability. Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins-Smith lead a balanced Seattle attack, while the Mystics rely on Sonia Citron’s scoring and Brittney Sykes’ defensive presence. Both teams are hovering near the playoff bubble, making this a tone-setting game before the All-Star break. If Seattle’s perimeter shooting clicks early, expect them to pull away late.

Today’s Objective(s): Day 6

You’ll need five (5) players who will sink 10.0 or more free throws and distribute 20.0 or more assists, which means each player will need to average 2.0 FTM and 4.0 AST.

Between the two, free throws will be the easier objective to achieve whereas assists are sporadic across the W. There are a handful of players who can draw the foul, but also look for the pass before they take a shot. Alternatively, you can take the moneyball approach and utilize players who specialize in one or the other.
