WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 4 | Day 4

Today’s Objective(s): 80 Points Scored & 7 Three Pointers Made

Recap & Overview:

Sparks Surge Late to Stun Indiana

In yesterday’s first matchup, the Los Angeles Sparks traveled to Indiana to face a Fever squad missing Caitlin Clark. Down eight heading into the fourth quarter, the Sparks looked flat—until Azurá Stevens took over. She exploded for 17 of the team's 35 points in the final frame, including four from deep. Considering WNBA quarters are only ten minutes long, that’s the equivalent of a 42-point quarter in NBA terms. The Sparks’ furious finish earned them their fifth win and left Indiana reeling.

Mystics Dominate Aces from Start to Finish

Out west, the Mystics visited Las Vegas and set the tone early. Facing an Aces team that had won two straight, Washington led from tip to buzzer. Though the final score read 94–83, the margin felt wider than 11 points—Las Vegas outscored Washington in the fourth, but it barely dented the outcome. Iriafen has often been the go-to for the Mystics, but this time it was Sonia’s moment. She delivered a commanding 21 points on 53.8% shooting, leading the charge in what may have been the team’s most complete performance of the season.

Shakira Austin Disappoints in Fast Break Lineups; Boston and Wilson Shine on the Defensive End

While the Mystics earned a statement win, Shakira Austin gave Fast Breakers more frustration than production. Despite logging 13 points and 13 rebounds, her zero blocks and steals meant she added little Fast Break value. A whopping 73% of managers had her in their lineups, only to be burned by her lack of defensive contributions. Her high usage and hollow stat line make her the clear Fast Break Dud of the Day.

On the flip side, Aliyah Boston and A’ja Wilson came through in big ways for their collectors. Boston swiped five steals, while Wilson racked up four blocks and added a steal of her own. Their efforts turned momentum in Fast Break contests and positioned their backers for potential wins. For their dominant two-way impact, they share the Fast Break co-Star of the Day honors.

Previewing Today’s Five-Game Slate

The most anticipated matchup of the day features the 12-win Minnesota Lynx heading into Atlanta to face the 10-win Dream. Minnesota is aiming to avoid a third loss on the season, but they’ll face a tough Atlanta squad that’s built momentum at home.

Indiana looks to rebound after yesterday’s loss, though another absence from Caitlin Clark would shift expectations again. If she’s out, Paige Bueckers may steer Dallas to their fifth win of the season in a battle of squads seeking stability.

Chicago’s recent improvement will be put to the test as they travel to face expansion team Golden State. Despite their expansion status, the Valkyries have turned the Chase Center into a true homecourt advantage.

A pivotal showdown looms in Phoenix, where both the Liberty and Mercury bring 11-win records into a possible playoff preview. New York dominated early this season but has shown signs of vulnerability. The result could have serious implications for postseason seeding.

Seattle closes the night looking to shake off a frustrating loss to Indiana. Their opponent, the two-win Connecticut Sun, has struggled all year. A bounce-back game may be in the cards if Seattle can reestablish their rhythm.

Considering the five games on today’s slate, you have more options than normal, but it won’t be an easy one. Let’s dive into today’s projections.

Misery likes company. We were part of the 60% of the population of Fast Breakers who didn’t earn a win and blocks were the reason we fell short. Today is not looking great either especially since we had to sub out Marina Mabrey. Maybe Sabally, Atkins, or Cooper has a huge game that carries us to a win.
