WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 4 | Day 5

Today’s Objective(s): 15 Assists

Recap & Overview:

Overtime Thriller in Atlanta

The Minnesota Lynx and Atlanta Dream delivered a nail-biter in a matchup between two of the league’s elite. Trading punches for four quarters, the game spilled into overtime before Kayla McBride’s clutch free throws sealed the deal. With the gritty road win, the Lynx maintain their perch atop the league standings.

Fireworks in the Desert

Phoenix and New York squared off in the highest-scoring game of the season, with the Mercury overpowering the Liberty 106–91. This shootout eclipsed the previous high watermark set by Seattle’s 102-point outburst against Las Vegas. Eleven players reached double figures, giving Fast Break managers a buffet of scoring—and plenty of three-point bonus potential (excluding Sabrina).

Fever Snap Back Against Dallas

After a tough loss the day before, Indiana bounced back despite Caitlin Clark’s continued absence. Kelsey Mitchell dropped 32 points to lead the Fever past a surging Dallas team fueled by breakout rookie Paige Bueckers. Bueckers poured in 27, and though the Wings came up short, her play continues to boost their future outlook.

Expansion Team Outpaces the Sky

Chicago showed more life than recent outings but still couldn’t overcome the Golden State Valkyries. The expansion squad continues to impress and has now surpassed Chicago in both the standings and playoff odds. While they aren’t quite title threats yet, this team is shaping up to be a major spoiler.

Seattle Steadies Against Struggling Sun

Seattle’s inconsistency against mid-tier competition has hurt their record—but not yesterday. Facing the two-win Connecticut Sun, the Storm avoided the classic “trap game,” rolling to a 97–81 win and reinforcing their place in the upper-mid tier of the standings.

Fast Break Roundup

Kelsey Mitchell not only delivered for Indiana but also for the 50% of collectors who started her. Kelsey’s 32 points and four threes accounted for 40% of the required scoring and 57% of the needed triples in Fast Break. That effort earned her Fast Break Star of the Day honors.

On the flip side, Sabrina Ionescu was rostered in 75% of lineups but managed just 9 points and 1 triple, despite New York posting 91 as a team. For her underwhelming output, she claims the unfortunate title of Fast Break Dud of the Day.

Battle Amongst Rookies

With only one matchup on today’s schedule, Fast Break options narrow significantly. Both Classic and Pro modes require 15 assists, setting the stage for a communal win… or a shared loss.

Dallas faces off against Washington in what’s expected to be a competitive game featuring three standout rookies: Paige Bueckers for the Wings and the Mystics’ dynamic duo of Iriafen and Citron. So long as the game stays close, assist opportunities should be plentiful—just what the majority of Fast Breakers are hoping for. With that said, let’s get into projections.

It looked like we could have crossed the line…but we came up one point short of the points goal. That means we need to win six out of the remaining seven days. Our lineup mirrors that of many others, so we’re hoping for a high win rate today.
