WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 2 | Day 8
Today’s Objective(s): 3 Steals & 3 Blocks
Recap & Overview:
WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Continues
The third day of the Commissioner’s Cup featured predictable winners, but the paths to victory varied dramatically.
New York took down Washington 86-78, but the Mystics never truly pressured the Liberty, trailing by 16 points entering the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Valkyrie vs. Mercury matchup delivered a dramatic finish. The game was deadlocked entering the final quarter, and with four minutes remaining, Golden State held a promising 76-68 lead. However, Phoenix stormed back, rattling off a 9-0 run to take the lead in the final minute. After a lengthy stretch of free throws, the Mercury walked away with an eight-point win.
Commissioner’s Cup Day 4: Atlanta & Connecticut Seek First Wins
Tonight’s matchups provide opportunities for struggling teams:
Atlanta vs. Connecticut: Both teams look for their first win in tournament play. Atlanta will need a win to keep pace with the likely Eastern Conference representative in the Commissioner’s Cup Final.
Los Angeles vs. Dallas: Both squads are light on wins, making this a critical chance to secure momentum moving forward.
Fast Break Recap: Rough Shooting Night Leads to Low Success Rate
Fast Break Day 7 proved brutal, with just 30% securing a win—a sharp drop compared to recent 80%+ days. What turned out to be a challenging day may separate top-tier collectors, setting up strong advantages for the top 250 run-based rewards.
Sabrina Ionescu led all shooters in three-point attempts, sinking two of them, earning the Fast Break Star of the Day. Lexi Held deserved an honorable mention, making four threes on nine attempts—a strong performer to watch on future shooting challenges. Jonquel Jones struggled, sinking zero threes on just one attempt, earning the Fast Break Dud of the Day.
Fast Break Preview: Steals & Blocks Take Center Stage
Tonight’s challenge requires just 3 steals and 3 blocks, meaning the threshold isn’t overwhelming, but lineup selection will still be critical. Let’s dive into top player projections and optimal lineup strategies to help collectors secure another win and gain ground in the standings.
Today’s Objective(s):
WNBA Fast Break Day 8 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 3.0 or more steals and block 3.0 or more shots, which means each player will need to average 0.6 STL & 0.6 BLK. There are two (2) games scheduled today, which includes Atlanta’s last game of this series. If you have Azura Stevens available, she’s a must start as she’s the only player who is proficient in both of today’s objectives. But your best option is to identify a couple players who are proficient in one objective or the other. Blocks will be the more challenging of the two, though.
Little of Both: Azura Stevens
Thieves: Kelsey Plum, Arike Ogunbowale, Dearica Hamby, Rhyne Howard, DiJonai Carrington, Azura Stevens, Saniya Rivers, Myisha Hines-Allen, Jacy Sheldon, Brionna Jones
Shot Blockers: NaLyssa Smith, Azura Stevens, Brittney Griner
Top Five (5) Players in Pro Lineups: R. Howard (80%), B. Griner (72%), A. Stevens (54%), A. Gray (46%), N. Smith (32%)
Upcoming Fast Break Objectives:
Tomorrow: 25 Field Goals Made & 40 Field Goal Attempts (5.0 FGM & 8.0 FGA)
Objectives Frequency (after today): FGM, FGA, PITP, REB, AST, 3PM
Considerations:
Eight (8) teams have the least number of games remaining (1)
Four (4) teams the most number of games remaining (2)
New York has no more games remaining
Today is Atlanta’s last game of this run
Day 9 (tomorrow) has six (6) teams in action (most)
Day 11 only has two (2) teams in action (least)

We would have squeaked by with our 6th win if we would had remembered to start Kayla Thornton as we had planned. At least we’ve already reached out 5th win. Since we technically don’t have Nia Coffey in our collection, we subbed in Odyssey Sims instead of picking up Nia Coffey in the marketplace.
