WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 2 | Day 5
Today’s Objective(s): 25 Rebounds & 15 Assists
Recap & Overview:
Chicago Secures Second Win, Reese Makes History
If Chicago could play Dallas every day, they probably would—as they notched their second victory of the season, both coming against the Wings. Despite Dallas missing Paige Bueckers, the game was competitive early, with only three points separating the teams at halftime.
However, the Sky found their rhythm in the second half, creating separation by the end of the third quarter and maintaining a seven-point lead or more throughout the fourth.
Adding to the historic night, Angel Reese became the fastest WNBA player to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds, finishing with 14 points and 9 boards—a milestone that further cements her early success in the league (and as a Fast Break stat stuffer).
Fast Break Recap: An Easy Win for Most Collectors
Fast Break Day 4 had a high success rate, with 96% of participants walking away victorious, thanks to relatively low thresholds (30 points & 2 blocks). Ariel Atkins led all scorers with 26 points, while Carrington chipped in 16 points and a block, and Ogunbowale added 15 points. Teaira McCowan, on the other hand, had the toughest outing, finishing with just 3 points and 1 block, making her the weakest performer among the five most utilized players and your Fast Break Dud of the Day.
WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Begins Today
Today marks the start of the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup, an in-season tournament running from June 1 through June 17, with the championship set for July 1.
The format includes each team facing every other team in their conference, with the best record from the East & West advancing to the championship—hosted by the team with the highest win percentage.
Beyond regular-season implications, the prize pool is substantial:
Winning team splits $500,000, giving players a meaningful earnings boost (for context, minimum salaries are around $66K, and max contracts sit at $250K/year).
Commissioner’s Cup finalists also receive $5,000 in Bitcoin per player ($120K total), courtesy of Coinbase.
