WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 2 | Day 6

Today’s Objective(s): 60 Points Scored

Recap & Overview:

WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Day 2: Key Matchups & Fast Break Strategy

The WNBA Commissioner’s Cup tipped off on Saturday, and while results were mostly predictable, the New York Liberty’s 100-52 demolition of Connecticut stood out as the day’s biggest shocker.

Elsewhere, the Minnesota Lynx handled the Golden State Valkyrie with ease (86-75), while Las Vegas avenged their recent loss to Seattle, handing the Storm their third straight defeat. Meanwhile, Phoenix edged Los Angeles, securing their fifth win of the season.

Fast Break Recap: A Shift in Success Rate

Fast Break Day 5 saw a dip in win percentage, as just over half of lineups earned a victory—a break from the 80%+ success rates of Days 2-4. With 25 rebounds and 15 assists required, overly tilting toward one stat category proved costly for many collectors.

Among the top five most-utilized players (C. Williams, S. Diggins, J. Jones, A. Wilson, N. Cloud), all contributed at least nine tallies, meaning there were no Duds on the Day. Courtney Williams delivered the most balanced contributions, earning her the Fast Break Star of the Day, while Napheesa Collier deserved an honorable mention with her strong 11-rebound, 4-assist effort.

Commissioner’s Cup Day 2

Today marks the second day of the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup, an in-season tournament running from June 1 through June 17, with the championship set for July 1.

As a reminder, the format includes each team facing every other team in their conference, with the best record from the East & West advancing to the championship—hosted by the team with the highest win percentage.

Beyond regular-season implications, the prize pool is substantial:

  • Winning team splits $500,000, giving players a meaningful earnings boost (for context, minimum salaries are around $66K, and max contracts sit at $250K/year).

  • Commissioner’s Cup finalists also receive $5,000 in Bitcoin per player ($120K total), courtesy of Coinbase.

Tonight’s Matchups: Stakes Rising

Three Commissioner’s Cup matchups take center stage:

  • Indiana Fever vs. Washington Mystics: The Fever look to snap their 3-game skid and secure their first win since Caitlin Clark’s injury, while the Mystics aim for their second victory against Indiana this season.

  • Dallas Wings vs. Seattle Storm: Both teams hope to break their own three-game losing streaks, though Seattle remains without Paige Bueckers, as she’ll miss another game due to concussion protocol.

  • Phoenix Mercury vs. Minnesota Lynx: A high-stakes showdown as both teams jockey for position in the Western Conference standings. The winner will gain an edge in Commissioner’s Cup contention, making this the most intriguing matchup of the night.

Fast Break Strategy: Point Production is Key

Tonight’s Fast Break objective centers on scoring, with three games offering a solid player pool. Collectors must decide whether to maximize points output today or strategically spread high-scoring players to ensure long-term lineup efficiency throughout the run.

Let’s break down the top projected plays and optimal lineup strategies to help collectors hit their threshold while maintaining roster flexibility.

Today’s Objective(s):

WNBA Fast Break Day 6 requires five (5) players who will score 60.0 or more points, which means each player will only need to average 12.0 PTS. There are three (3) games scheduled today, so you have a decent number of options — especially considering the relatively low threshold. With five (5) days remaining, you’ll want to see how the rest of Run 2 is looking and determine whether today allows for some flexibility. Napheesa is a must-start if you use lower tier options as she can single-handedly get you close to half of today’s objective.

  • Point Scorers: Napheesa Collier, Brittney Sykes, Satou Sabally, Skylar Diggins, Nneka Ogwumike, Arike Ogunbowale, Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston

  • Top Five (5) Players in Pro Lineups: K. McBride (67%), S. Sabally (66%), N. Collier (55%), N. Ogwumike (49%), S. Diggins (39%)

Upcoming Fast Break Objectives:

  • Tomorrow: 7 Three Pointers Made & 15 Three Point Attempts (1.4 3PM & 3.0 3PA)

  • Objectives Frequency (after today):

    • 2x: 3PM

    • 1x: 3PA, FGM, FGA, STL, PITP, BLK, REB, AST

Considerations:

  • Four (4) teams have the least number of games remaining (1)

  • Four (4) teams have the most number of games remaining (4)

  • Day 11 only has two (2) teams in action

  • Day 6 (today) & Day 9 have six (6) teams in action

Tome Collective’s WNBA Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Win #4 in the books and placed 95th overall. That’s our 2nd top 100 finish this series, which gives us two Fast Break packs so far. We are also one win away from the primary win-based reward. Since we lost the first day, we are no longer eligible for the 11-win pack, but we are currently 318th overall, so a run-based reward (top 250) would be our stretch goal. We subbed out Alyssa Thomas due to her injury and subbed in Alanna Smith.
