WNBA Fast Break Classic | Run 1 | Day 7

Today’s Objective(s): 25 Assists & 2 Steals

Recap & Overview:

Golden State Valkyrie Secure First Franchise Win

The Golden State Valkyrie celebrated a historic moment, earning their first-ever win in franchise history. Though their game against the Washington Mystics wasn’t the highest-scoring affair, it marked a promising start for the expansion team. With aspirations of surprising the league and making a playoff push in their inaugural season, Golden State hopes this early success sets the tone for what’s to come.

The matchup remained tight heading into the fourth quarter, with the Valkyrie holding a slim 47-46 lead. However, the final frame unfolded differently, as both teams finally found their offensive rhythm. Washington battled to keep pace, but Golden State had just enough in reserve to close out the victory, handing the Mystics their first loss of the young season.

Close Calls & Milestone Performances

Elsewhere, two games went down to the wire. The Minnesota Lynx faced off against the Dallas Wings, with Paige Bueckers recording the first double-double of her WNBA career. Despite her impressive stat line, Dallas remains winless at 0-3, still searching for its first victory.

In another competitive battle, the Los Angeles Sparks and Phoenix Mercury went toe-to-toe, delivering a tight contest for the majority of the game. Phoenix ultimately secured their second win of the season, edging out Los Angeles by a final score of 89-86.

Fast Break Recap: Three-Pointers & Rebounds Impact Lineups

Yesterday’s Fast Break objectives focused on three-pointers and rebounds, but early-season averages can sometimes mislead lineup decisions. Case in point—Tiffany Hayes, one of the most-utilized players (65%), saw only 13 minutes of action and finished the night with zero three-pointers and just one rebound. This underwhelming performance earned her the Fast Break Dud of the Day.

On the other hand, Kelsey Plum proved to be a difference-maker in the Sparks’ loss to the Mercury. While she grabbed only three rebounds, she knocked down four three-pointers which covered 40% of the three-point objective target. Her sharp shooting (with sprinkles of rebounds) earned her the Fast Break Star of the Day.

Looking Ahead: Fever vs. Dream Rematch & Key Matchup for New York

Tonight’s slate brings two matchups, including a rematch between the Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream. Indiana will look to avenge their previous loss, while Atlanta aims to use their momentum to establish themselves as championship contenders.

Meanwhile, New York takes on Chicago, in a game expected to highlight the gap between top-tier contenders and middle-tier teams. With another exciting night ahead, fans and players alike will have plenty to watch as the season unfolds.

Today’s Objective(s):

WNBA Fast Break Day 7 requires five (5) players who will distribute 25.0 or more assists and accumulate 2.0 or more steals, which means each player will need to average 5.0 AST & 0.4 STL. If yesterday’s pro mode (with no badge or set requirements), which required 30 assists, is an early indication of how today will go, anticipate a less than 50% success rate. That means you won’t have much room for error as players who have high assist rates aren’t abundant. There are, however, a handful of players who have a higher probability and likelihood of leading you to a win. Unfortunately one of those players has a low ask above $400 for her common digital card.

Tome Collective’s WNBA Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Build-out in process, but is going slower than expected due to data irregularities. It’ll be ready by at least the next run at this rate. Here’s our lineup today though. We fell short yesterday again, so we have five days to secure two more wins, which will grant us the 5-win pack.
