WNBA Fast Break Classic | Preseason | Day 7

Today’s Objective(s): 20 Assists & 2 Steals

Recap & Overview:

Of the six days of this WNBA Fast Break series, only Day 1 had more than 50% earn a win, so it has been challenging to say the least. If yesterday were a regular season matchup between New York and Connecticut, the 12 FGM & 18 REB would have been a breeze, but instead only 23 collectors earned a win.

Tina Charles led the way with 6 FGM & 6 REB and helped the 42% of collectors who started her. For the 58% who started Natasha Cloud, she dragged your lineup with 0 FGM & 1 REB. As we are preseason, it was expected that many typical starters would see limited minutes and yesterday’s game lived up to those expectations as Sabrina Ionescu (89%) and Jonquel Jones (92%) did not play the majority of the game (18 minutes or less out of the total 40 minutes).

Today, you’ll have five (5) teams in action as the Dallas Wings play the Brazilian National Team. Although there are more players available, you’ll continue to run into the uncertainty of playing time. It’ll boil down to the “right” mix of players to reach today’s blend of field goals and rebounds, but Dallas players may be the better play considering who they’re playing.

WNBA for the Uninitiated:

For those who are unfamiliar with the WNBA, there are 13 teams in total (including the expansion team Golden State Valkyries), 44 games played by each team, and they play 10-minute quarters. Of the 13 teams, 8 will make the playoffs. This means there are less teams in action each day and there are less games overall, so Fast Break options are much narrower than their NBA counterpart. This makes rare and legendary moments more relevant to earn wins each day for greater flexibility, but it also means you’ll need to be more strategic each run if you’re limited to common moments. It is also worth noting that WNBA moments are more scarce than the NBA as there are only 29K rares and 4K legendaries of active players. If you are a tome+ subscriber, you have access to the WNBA Fast Break Targets that provides a statistical breakdown of the top players and their current rare/legendary prices. Players who are the most versatile across multiple stat categories are the most valuable as they can be played on multiple days based on need.

Tome Collective’s WNBA Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

We are running this series back for the WNBA Season. Check back daily for our lineups along with likely adjustments when the WNBA Season begins.
