WNBA Fast Break Classic | Preseason | Day 6
Today’s Objective(s): 12 Field Goals Made & 18 Rebounds
Recap & Overview:
Of the five days of this WNBA Fast Break series, only Day 1 had more than 50% earn a win, so it has been challenging to say the least. If today were a regular season matchup between these two teams, the likelihood of reaching today’s objective would likely be a gimme. Since, however, we are in preseason, the certainty is lower as playing time is proving unpredictable. As such, you can opt to select the players who are projected to do well during the regular season or take a chance on some other players who are playing today.
Case in point, the previous day of this run. Brittney Griner led the way with 16 points scored (projected #1 in our previous article), but Nia Coffey outpaced her projected 12th highest scoring output to tie for second most. With her performance, her Top Shot Debut (and only moment) subsequently rose in value.
Anticipate more of the same today as we will either see a mid-level number of wins and very low like we saw yesterday. It’ll boil down to the “right” mix of players to reach today’s blend of field goals and rebounds.
WNBA for the Uninitiated:
For those who are unfamiliar with the WNBA, there are 13 teams in total (including the expansion team Golden State Valkyries), 44 games played by each team, and they play 10-minute quarters. Of the 13 teams, 8 will make the playoffs. This means there are less teams in action each day and there are less games overall, so Fast Break options are much narrower than their NBA counterpart. This makes rare and legendary moments more relevant to earn wins each day for greater flexibility, but it also means you’ll need to be more strategic each run if you’re limited to common moments. It is also worth noting that WNBA moments are more scarce than the NBA as there are only 29K rares and 4K legendaries of active players. If you are a tome+ subscriber, you have access to the WNBA Fast Break Targets that provides a statistical breakdown of the top players and their current rare/legendary prices. Players who are the most versatile across multiple stat categories are the most valuable as they can be played on multiple days based on need.
