WNBA Fast Break Classic | Preseason | Day 5

Today’s Objective(s): 45 Points Scored

Recap & Overview:

Although there were six (6) teams in action yesterday, only one collector was able to select the lineup that would secure the necessary 8 three pointers made and 2 blocks. Considering we are in preseason, the minutes played by each player is unpredictable. The same is true today as there is only one game scheduled and playing time will vary based on the team and player’s needs as they gear up for the regular season.

If you had A’ja Wilson in your lineup, she gave you all the blocks needed. If you were one of the 8% who had Jewell Loyd in your lineup, she delivered three of the eight three pointers you needed. The required mix and match of players would have benefited from Satou Sabally and Jackie Young as they both delivered two three pointers apiece. Anything less based on percentage of players found in lineups and you would have been one of the 99% who did not earn a win yesterday.

Anticipate more of the same today as we will either see a mid-level number of wins and very low like we saw yesterday. It’ll boil down to the “right” mix of players to reach today’s points target.

WNBA for the Uninitiated:

For those who are unfamiliar with the WNBA, there are 13 teams in total (including the expansion team Golden State Valkyries), 44 games played by each team, and they play 10-minute quarters. Of the 13 teams, 8 will make the playoffs. This means there are less teams in action each day and there are less games overall, so Fast Break options are much narrower than their NBA counterpart. This makes rare and legendary moments more relevant to earn wins each day for greater flexibility, but it also means you’ll need to be more strategic each run if you’re limited to common moments. It is also worth noting that WNBA moments are more scarce than the NBA as there are only 29K rares and 4K legendaries of active players. If you are a tome+ subscriber, you have access to the WNBA Fast Break Targets that provides a statistical breakdown of the top players and their current rare/legendary prices. Players who are the most versatile across multiple stat categories are the most valuable as they can be played on multiple days based on need.

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected points scored according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, playoff average, and the playoff projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected playoff stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.
