NBA Fast Break Classic | Conference Semifinals | Day 3

Today’s Objective(s): 30 Assists

Recap & Overview:

For the first time in NBA History, the first five games of this round have gone to the away team. Cleveland had Indiana on the topes with seconds to go and had a three point lead with Tyrese Haliburton at the line. After making the first, he missed the second and miraculously retrieved the rebound. From there he dribbled back to the top of the key and nailed a step-back three pointer to silence a stunned Cleveland crowd.

The late game lacked the same drama, as Golden State controlled the tempo from start to finish, showcasing their elite defense. Minnesota made a push in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors swiftly shut down the rally and closed out the game with ease.

Tonight’s matchups — Game 2 in Boston against the Knicks and Oklahoma City against the Nuggets — promise another grind. Will the higher seeds bounce back, or will the underdogs continue their road dominance? Boston’s playoff experience should keep them steady, and Oklahoma City’s talent is undeniable. But New York has Brunson, and Denver has Joker — so anything is possible.

As for Fast Break, yesterday’s target required 35 rebounds, and 82% of participants secured a win. Jarrett Allen led the charge with 12 boards, covering 34% of the day’s objective and earning the Fast Break Stud of the Day award. Meanwhile, Julius Randle, included in 64% of lineups, managed just three rebounds — earning the Dud of the Day and making chances at earning a daily reward a tough climb for those who relied on him.

If this postseason continues delivering high-stakes battles, physicality, and clutch performances, it could go down as one of the most thrilling NBA Playoffs in recent memory. With assists as today’s primary objective, let’s dive into the projections.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 3 requires five (5) players who will distribute 30.0 or more assists, which means each player will need to average at least 6.0 AST per player. Although there are four (4) teams in action today, assists will be difficult to come by based on today’s projections and playoff averages. Below you’ll find your best options available, though.

  • Distributors: Nikola Jokic, Jalen Brunson, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray, Jalen Williams

  • Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: R. Westbrook (77%), N. Jokic (68%), J. Hart (58%), J. Brunson (53%), J. Murray (51%)

NBA Playoffs:

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow: 35.0 Points in the Paint (7.0 PITP per player)

  • Objectives Frequency (after today):

    • 3x: PITP

    • 2x: STL, 3PM, 3PA, PTS, AST

    • 1x: FGM, FGA, OREB, BLK, REB

Considerations:

  • All four (4) away teams won Game 1 on the road, so there is a higher probability none of the series will end within four games

  • Day 4 (tomorrow) only has one (1) game scheduled

  • Day 9 (May 13th) is the first Game 5, if necessary, which means any sweeps would hinder the availability of players

  • Minnesota & Golden State will play a maximum of six (6) games during this run

  • The Cavaliers/Pacers matchup has the least possible games remaining (2); all other matchups have a minimum of three (3) games remaining

Tome Collective’s Fast Break NBA Playoffs Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Win number one officially secured. If Joker can pull off another triple-double, that would mean the other four players would need to average five (5) assists. As we’ve chosen players for many of the remaining days, our options are quite limited.
