NBA Fast Break Classic | Conference Semifinals | Day 4

Today’s Objective(s): 35 Points in the Paint

Recap & Overview:

History was made in both of yesterday’s NBA playoff matchups.

The Knicks-Celtics showdown mirrored Game 1 in eerie fashion—Boston blew a 20-point lead, struggled from beyond the arc, and Mikal Bridges sealed the win with a clutch defensive play. The Celtics set a playoff record in Game 1 with 45 missed three-pointers, and through two games, they’ve attempted 100 threes and missed 75—another historic mark. Now down 2-0, they head to New York, hoping to turn the tide in hostile territory. A silver lining for Celtics fans: Boston was 33-8 on the road this season, outperforming their home record of 28-13, so it may not be all doom and gloom (for now).

In the nightcap, the Thunder reminded everyone why they’re the top overall seed. They dismantled the Nuggets 149-106, posting the 10th-highest point total in NBA playoff history and setting a new record for most points in a half (87). Their dominant performance evens the series as it shifts to Denver for Game 3. This win also marked the first home victory in the conference semifinals, and Minnesota will look to follow suit in today’s lone matchup.

As for Fast Break, yesterday’s single objective—30 assists—proved surprisingly difficult. Only 7% of lineups secured a win, with just four players reaching six or more assists: SGA, Brunson, Jalen Williams, and Jokic. No player hit double digits, meaning successful lineups needed at least two of these playmakers. Jalen Brunson was utilized in 52% of lineups and delivered seven assists for those collectors, which earned him the Fast Break Stud of the Day. On the flip side, Jamal Murray was also lean upon in 52% of lineups, but he could only manage one assist, easily claiming the Fast Break Dud of the Day.

Golden State took down Minnesota in their last meeting despite Steph Curry exiting early with a hamstring injury. With Curry sidelined for at least a couple of games, the Warriors will need to prove they can replicate their success, while the Timberwolves aim to hold serve at home and even the series. As today’s single objective is points in the paint, let’s dive into the projections for the limited players in action.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 4 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 35.0 or more points in the paint, which means each player will need to average at least 7.0 PITP per player.
