WNBA Fast Break Classic | Preseason | Day 1
Today’s Objective(s): 45 Points Scored
Overview:
The 2024 WNBA Season introduced the league to many new fans which can be attributed to the arrival of Caitlin Clark, but other notable rookies benefitted from the elevated attention including Angel Reese and Cameron Brink. It was also the inaugural season of WNBA Fast Break, which engaged many fans and collectors in a new way as most players were not household names beyond A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu, and a handful of others. With the influx of fans and infusion of Fast Break, players like Napheesa Collier, Arike Ogunbowale, Alyssa Thomas, Jewell Loyd, Kahleah Copper, and others became more commonly known (and collected).
Like Caitlin last season, anticipate a lot of interest and anticipation to collect moments from Paige Bueckers and other notable rookies. It will be worth seeing whether she can live up to the hype and help Dallas get back into the playoffs this season. It’ll also be exciting to see whether the Indiana Fever can take the next step and compete for the championship this season or if New York and Las Vegas will continue to be the lead candidates to bring home another trophy.
For those who are unfamiliar with the WNBA, there are 13 teams in total (including the expansion team Golden State Valkyries), 44 games played by each team, and they play 10-minute quarters. Of the 13 teams, 8 will make the playoffs. This means there are less teams in action each day and there are less games overall, so Fast Break options are much narrower than their NBA counterpart. This makes rare and legendary moments more relevant to earn wins each day for greater flexibility, but it also means you’ll need to be more strategic each run if you’re limited to common moments. It is also worth noting that WNBA moments are more scarce than the NBA as there are only 29K rares and 4K legendaries of active players. If you are a tome+ subscriber, you have access to the WNBA Fast Break Targets that provides a statistical breakdown of the top players and their current rare/legendary prices. Players who are the most versatile across multiple stat categories are the most valuable as they can be played on multiple days based on need.
Here are the preseason rankings of each team in the WNBA and notable players who should be staples in every WNBA Top Shot collection for Fast Break. Caitlin Clark will be the most difficult to collect based on her current value. As the season unfolds, she’ll likely have additional moments added to the overall total, but her value will unlikely drop by much - especially early in the WNBA season.
Preseason Rankings & Notable Fast Break Players:
New York Liberty | Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu

Today’s Objective(s):
WNBA Fast Break Day 1 requires five (5) players who will score 45.0 or more points, which means each player will need to average at least 9.0 PTS per player. There are only three (3) teams in action as the Chicago Sky are playing the Brazilian National Team. As this is preseason, there is a lot of uncertainty about who will play and how many minutes they’ll play. The threshold is low, so you may find success in playing the top players.
