NBA Fast Break Classic | NBA Finals | Day 4

Today’s Objective(s): 20 Points in the Paint & 5 Offensive Rebounds

Recap & Overview:

Game 3: Indiana Seizes Control Late

From start to finish, Game 3 was a battle, as the Pacers and Thunder exchanged buckets in a tightly contested showdown.

Surprisingly, the biggest performances came from Indiana’s bench. Bennedict Mathurin led the team with 27 points on 75% shooting in just 22 minutes, while TJ McConnell provided an essential spark, delivering 10 points, 5 assists, and—most importantly—5 steals that swung momentum.

Despite leading for most of the game, OKC unraveled in the final five minutes, allowing Indiana to steal a crucial win.

Game 3 Winner: The 80.5% Advantage

Historically, when a series is tied 1-1, the winner of Game 3 goes on to win the series 80.5% of the time. This result gives Indiana a massive edge, positioning them to pull off an upset against the heavily favored Thunder.

However, Oklahoma City’s depth and talent make them more than capable of bucking the trend. To do so, they’ll need to solve a troubling fourth-quarter pattern.

Late-Game Struggles: OKC’s Fourth-Quarter Collapse

In each of the first three games, Oklahoma City entered the final quarter with a lead—9 points in Game 1, 19 in Game 2, and 5 in Game 3. Yet, in two of those games, the Pacers outscored them down the stretch, resulting in losses in Games 1 and 3. With OKC’s road struggles (4-4 record) and Indiana’s home dominance (6-2 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse), Game 4 will be a critical test of the Thunder’s resilience.

If Indiana wins, they’ll have three chances to close out the series, potentially securing Indianapolis’ first major sports championship since 2006 (Colts) or 2012 (Indiana Fever), depending on whether you “count” the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL exclusively.

Fast Break Day 3 Recap: Haliburton Delivers

Day 3’s Fast Break challenge required field goals and assists, with 81% of participants securing a win. Tyrese Haliburton stepped up, recording 11 assists and 9 field goals made, appearing in 75% of lineups and earning the Fast Break Stud of the Day.

Meanwhile, Andrew Nembhard struggled, making just 3 field goals and dishing out only 1 assist, leading to his designation as the Fast Break Dud of the Day.
