NBA Fast Break Classic | Conference Finals | Day 10

Today’s Objective(s): 25 Points in the Paint & 5 Offensive Rebounds

Recap & Overview:

Thunder Dominate, Advance to NBA Finals

In front of a roaring Oklahoma City crowd, the Minnesota Timberwolves started the game with a quick three-point lead—before OKC turned up the intensity and took over the game. The Thunder exploded for a 26-6 run to close out the first quarter, then extended their lead by 16 more points in the second frame, leaving the outcome all but decided by halftime.

With the win, Oklahoma City advances to its first NBA Finals since 2012, where they’ll meet the winner of the Knicks-Pacers series beginning on June 5th. Regardless of who they face, OKC looks confident and ready to bring home the franchise’s first title since 1979, back when they were still the Seattle SuperSonics.

Timberwolves Head to Offseason with Big Decisions Ahead

Minnesota’s offseason outlook will be interesting, as they remain close to a true championship-caliber squad but might need one or two key pieces to reach that next level. In this series though, it appeared the lights were a tad too bright.

In Game 5, Julius Randle delivered an improved performance, but Jaden McDaniels (2-for-13) and Nickeil Alexander-Walker (0-for-8) struggled mightily. Anthony Edwards also had a rough night from deep, going 1-for-7 from three, a familiar trend in Minnesota’s losses throughout the series.

Fast Break Recap: SGA Shines, Gobert Disappoints

Yesterday’s Fast Break challenge focused on points in the paint and offensive rebounds, but results remained tough with only 19% of collectors securing a win.

Rudy Gobert was the most heavily utilized player (60%), yet he only managed 2 points in the paint and 1 offensive rebound, earning him the Fast Break Dud of the Day. On the other hand, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was rostered by 39% of collectors and carried those lineups with his 20 points in the paint and 1 offensive rebound, securing the Fast Break Stud of the Day award, which was coupled nicely by his Western Conference Finals MVP honors.

Pacers Look to Close Out the Knicks

Much like OKC, Indiana has a chance to punch its ticket to the NBA Finals tonight, chasing its first Finals appearance since 2000 when they fell to Kobe, Shaq, and the Lakers.

The biggest question mark remains Karl-Anthony Towns’ health, as he suffered a significant knee injury late in Game 4 and looked hobbled down the stretch. Should he play, New York will need contributions from Brunson, KAT, and others if they have any hope of extending the series.

Winning three straight against a red-hot Pacers team, though, won’t be easy. They’ll need to start on home court, channel their road warrior mentality, and close it out at home. Easier said than done considering Haliburton’s stellar play throughout these playoffs.

Fast Break Strategy: Points in the Paint & Offensive Rebounds

Tonight’s Fast Break objectives require 25 points in the paint and 5 offensive rebounds—a relatively low threshold, but roster fatigue may play a role late in the run.

For collectors still in contention, lineup decisions will be critical, so let’s break down the top projected players for today’s challenge.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 10 requires five (5) players who will score 25.0 points in the paint and gather 5.0 offensive rebounds, which means each player will need to average at least 5.0 PITP & 1.0 OREB. The thresholds are relatively low, so it’ll be easier to achieve with the right mix of players. This will, however, depend on your available players remaining based on whom you’ve utilized to date.
