NBA Fast Break Run 13 | Day 8

Today’s Objective(s): 75 Points Scored

Recap & Overview:

What goes up, must come down. On a day where 84% of Classic lineups and 40% of Pro lineups looked to Steph Curry to lead them to victory, chef could only muster an appetizer instead of a four course meal. Out of his last 26 games, Curry had made 4 or more three pointers 19 times and did not make less than two since January 31, 2025. How fitting is it that today’s the day where Steph breaks that two month streak when he was needed most. But misery loves company as Steph was not alone in his poor play. Donovan Mitchell matched the abysmal, crushingly dreadful performance as he went 1 for 6 from outside the arc, so they are your Fast Break co-Duds of the Day. For Pro Mode, you can throw in Tyrese Haliburton has he also made one three pointer.

On the other hand, Coby White was used in 36% of Classic lineups and made six three pointers, which would accounted for 40% of today’s objective. As he was one of the fifth most used player yesterday, he is your Fast Break Stud of the Day. Zach LaVine or Keyonte George are honorable mentions as they both sank seven (7) three pointers. Frankly, there were over 30 players who made at least three (3) three pointers - it just so happen to not include the majority of the players who mattered most.

And yet somehow four (4) Fast Breakers have found a way to navigate the land mines littering this Fast Break run. The contrarian view doesn’t always work but apparently it has worked for these four collectors as they’ve likely avoided the group think and utilized a different approach to their Fast Break lineups. Interestingly, only one of these collectors has a legendary moment and that was a gift earned within the past week. Tip of the cap to each of these Fast Breakers and are rooting for their continued success for the remaining six days of this run. Although there are only four teams in action today, the objective feels attainable. Fingers crossed for the second day this run where at least 50% of lineups result in a win.

As a reminder, Tome+ membership grants you access to useful Fast Break resources, Pro Mode articles, and full data sets for Classic. If you’re curious, but don’t want to pay the $4.99 per month or $12.99 for three months, sending any rare moment to TS: TomeCollective will grant you access for three months, which will include the NBA Playoffs and the beginning of the WNBA Season.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 8 requires five (5) players who will score 75.0 or more points, which means each player will need to average at least 15.0 PTS. With only four teams in action, your options are limited. Fortunately, points scored is very attainable at the threshold established today. Even if one player has an inexplicably bad scoring night, the gap to cover is more easily overcome than the standard 125 points. You have 50 more points of wiggle room - be sure to make sure of each of it to ensure you earn a win today.

  • Point Scorers: Cade Cunningham, Tyler Herro, Quentin Grimes, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Andrew Wiggins, Bam Adebayo, Malik Beasley, Domantas Sabonis

  • Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: D. DeRozan (80%), Z. LaVine (79%), B. Adebayo (58%), D. Sabonis (55%), Q. Grimes (43%)

  • Pro Mode Limitations: Video Game Numbers (Rare)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow: 5 Blocks & 5 Steals will be the two objectives; 20 teams in action

  • Objectives frequency (after today): FGM, FGA, OREB, AST, STL, BLK, PIP, 3PM, PTS

Considerations:

  • Six (6) teams have the least number of games remaining (3)

  • All other teams have the most number of games this run (4)

  • Sacramento is playing the tail-end of a back-to-back

  • Day 8 (today) only has 4 teams in action, but the objective was adjusted with this in mind

  • 4 of the last 5 days have 20 or more teams in action (including today) & the final two days have all teams in action; Day 11 is the exception

  • 4 of 6 days this run will have a single objective (or resembles a single objective)

  • Pro mode has a different limitation each day; it also has different objectives compared to Classic

NBA Playoff Picture:

Eastern Conference: Deja vu in the East as no changes occurred from top to bottom. Top four are all but locked, but the 5th & 6th spots could shift some more down the stretch (but the Bucks have a 1.0 game lead). There could be some shifting in the Play-In Tournament seeding though.

Western Conference: The top 3 did not change, but there was movement after them. The Lakers gained some breathing room and the Clippers jumped to 5th while Golden State dropped to 6th. 5th through 8th has the same record, so there will be a game of musical chairs between now and the end of the season. Denver only as a 1.0 lead over this group and could easily be in the mix for the Play-In Tournament if they falter down the stretch. Sacramento’s win over Cleveland moves them into the 9th spot ahead of a Dallas team who are likely safe from Phoenix as they lost yesterday. Sacramento and Dallas will jockey for home court in their remaining few games.

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected points scored according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 13 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Derrick and Gary did their thing, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the collective showing of Steph, Haliburton and Mitchell who could only make one three pointer on the day. With our loss on Day 7, we’ll need to win the remaining six days to earn the 11-win reward. If not, we’ll need at least two wins to earn the 7-win reward. We swapped out Cade and moved him to Day 13 as the Pistons may still be battling the Bucks for playoff position. We also swapped out Wiggins as he is currently showing as questionable. We’re also watching Day 12 as Booker and/or Durant may be shelved once the Suns are inevitably eliminated.
