NBA Fast Break Run 13 | Day 7

Today’s Objective(s): 15 Three Pointers Made & 25 Three Point Attempts

Recap & Overview:

We’ve officially reached the midway point of the final regular season Fast Break of the 2024-2025 season which also marks the first day this series where the win rate exceeded 50%. On a day that has historically been volatile, 76% earned a win when wins are scarce. With 69% of lineups having James Harden, his 12 assists minus turnovers were a big reason why the success rate was so high and for that performance he earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day. As none of the other top five players (Schroder, Young, Conley, & Dinwiddie) had a negative number on the day (which is common with yesterday’s objective), there were no Duds to be found (also an abnormal occurrence this run).

That widespread joy may be short-lived with today’s objective (3PM & 3PA) unless Steph Curry can carry the day. As he is utilized in a head-turning 89% of lineups, he could very well make or break the win % for today. It also speaks volumes to how much confidence and reliance people have in arguably the greater three-point shooter in NBA history and arguably one of the most important in the modern era. His greatness could very well impact both Classic and Pro modes as this is the first of two times this run where objectives align.

There are 22 teams in action today, so there will be plenty of games to keep your attention and slight shifts in the playoff race. Neither conferences have all but settled their top ten teams who will make the playoffs or play-in tournament, but there is a very tight race to avoid the play-in round in the Western Conference. There is a high risk that some of these teams will begin to sit players over the next few days though, so keep a keen eye on the DNP and injury reports. For today though, let’s collectively hope Steph has another big day or include players who have a big three point day.

As a reminder, Tome+ membership grants you access to useful Fast Break resources, Pro Mode articles, and full data sets for Classic. If you’re curious, but don’t want to pay the $4.99 per month or $12.99 for three months, sending any rare moment to TS: TomeCollective will grant you access for three months, which will include the NBA Playoffs and the beginning of the WNBA Season.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 7 requires five (5) players who will make at least 15.0 and attempt 25.0 or more three pointers, which means each player will need to average 3.0 3PM & 5.0 3PA. Although this season has seen the most three pointers attempted and made, there are no guarantees the day will finish with your lineup above the 3PM threshold - especially with how Fast Break days have historically gone as of late. But with the high volume of games today, there will be more players who can reach the objective. The challenge, though, is selecting those players while avoiding the egregious underperformers who can sink your lineup. Steph is a must-start if you have him based on his recent play. It becomes hazy thereafter.

  • Outside snipers: Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Derrick White, Coby White, Jordan Poole, Trae Young, Gary Trent, Jalen Green, Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell

  • Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: S. Curry (86%), J. Green (42%), D. Mitchell (40%), C. White (40%), D. White (39%)

  • Pro Mode Limitations: Video Game Numbers (Rare)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow: 75 Points Scored will be the single objective; only 4 teams in action

  • Objectives frequency (after today):

    • 2x: PTS

    • 1x: FGM, FGA, OREB, AST, STL, BLK, PIP, 3PM

Considerations:

  • Dallas has the least number of games remaining (3)

  • Seventeen (17) teams have the most number of games this run (5)

  • Atlanta, Milwaukee, & New York are playing the tail-end of a back-to-back

  • All teams will be active on Day 12 & Day 13

  • Day 8 (tomorrow) only has 4 teams in action, but the objective was adjusted with this in mind

  • Day 11 only has 10 teams in action

  • There are three days (including today) where there are 20 or more teams in action

  • 5 of 7 days this run will have a single objective (or resembles a single objective)

  • Pro mode has a different limitation each day; it also has different objectives compared to Classic

NBA Playoff Picture:

Eastern Conference: Detroit and Milwaukee flip-flop yet again and the Bucks take a 0.5 game lead over the Pistons. No changes otherwise including in the play-in standings, but Miami’s loss did not help their chances at a home game in the play-in tournament.

Western Conference: There were no changes in the top six playoff teams in the West and there were no shifts in the play-in tournament positioning. With Minnesota, LA Clippers, and Memphis all winning, they edge a little ahead of Dallas due to their loss. 3rd through 8th is separated by 1.5 games though, so shifts in the seeding will likely continue through the end of the season which means each of these teams will have something to play for. The Suns cling onto slim playoff chances, but time is running out for them.

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected three pointers made & three point attempts according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 13 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

That makes it five straight wins thanks to James Harden & Spencer Dinwiddie who carried the day. With Simons likely out tomorrow, we subbed in Derrick White based on his recent play. Hopefully Steph continues his hot scoring streak and make it six straight wins.
