NBA Fast Break Run 13 | Day 6

Today’s Objective(s): 20 Assists minus Turnovers

Recap & Overview:

Another day and another high watermark for this run as 34% of Fast Breakers earned a win yesterday…but not quite the majority. This marks the 5th straight day where there were less than 50% winners, which is very uncommon relative to prior series. Considering there are only 10 teams in action today and the difficult objective, there will either be a lot of winners or more of the same from Run 13. We are also down to 11 perfect records as these impressive collectors have managed to win 5 times out of 5 days.

It was a block party where many players contributed. If you were one of the 49% who had Myles Turner in your lineup, he singlehandedly covered all the blocks you needed yesterday (along with 10 points in the paint) which should have paved the way to a win. If, however, you were one of the 53% who had Daniel Gafford in your lineup, he likely set you back on points in the paint as he only had 4 points total. The former earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day award and the latter is your resident Dud of the Day. What should have been the easier of the two objectives turned out to be equally challenging based on the lineup you set. Layer on top of that the late scratch of Mark Williams (who was locked temporarily, but was unlocked) and Anthony Davis and that’s a recipe for disaster - especially if you weren’t able to sub them out before the final game of the day.

Day 5 also marked the 2nd consecutive day where Pro Mode had less % of winners than Classic, which wasn’t the case for the first three days of this run. As such, the number of perfect records sits at 78 and today’s objective requires only 35 assists yet may be sneaky challenging due to the number of teams in action and the players available who are able to deliver a high volume of assists.

As a reminder, Tome+ membership grants you access to useful Fast Break resources, Pro Mode articles, and full data sets for Classic. If you’re curious, but don’t want to pay the $4.99 per month or $12.99 for three months, sending any rare moment to TS: TomeCollective will grant you access for three months, which will include the NBA Playoffs and the beginning of the WNBA Season.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 6 requires five (5) players who will distribute at least 20.0 or more assists than they do turn the ball over. This has historically been viewed as one of the more difficult as your total score can rise and fall throughout the day. Your best approach is to utilize players who gather a lot of assists and hope they take care of the ball more often than not. Trae is a must-start if he’s available in your lineup. Other strong plays include Cade (if he plays), Giannis (considering his 20 assist game), and Schroder who has had a high assist volume the past few games.

  • Dishes & Protects the Ball: Trae Young, Cade Cunningham, Josh Hart, Spencer Dinwiddie, James Harden, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jared Butler, Dennis Schroder, Davion Mitchell, Scotty Pippen

  • Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: D. Schroder (73%), J. Harden (72%), T. Young (60%), M. Conley (54%), J. Hart (41%)

  • Pro Mode Limitations: Crunch Time Set

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow: 15 Three Pointers Made & 25 Three Point Attempts will be the two objectives; 22 teams in action

  • Objectives frequency (after today):

    • 2x: 3PM, PTS

    • 1x: FGM, FGA, OREB, 3PA, AST, STL, BLK, PIP

Considerations:

  • Seven (7) teams have the least number of games remaining (4)

  • Atlanta, Milwaukee, & New York have the most number of games this run (6)

  • Dallas, Denver, & LA Clippers are playing the tail-end of a back-to-back

  • All teams will be active on Day 12 & Day 13

  • Day 8 only has 4 teams in action, but the objective is lower than usual

  • Day 6 (today) & 11 only has 10 teams in action

  • There are three days where there are 20 or more teams in action

  • 5 of 8 days this run will have a single objective (or resembles a single objective)

  • Pro mode has a different limitation each day; it also has different objectives compared to Classic

NBA Playoff Picture:

Eastern Conference: Detroit and Milwaukee flip-flop again and the Pistons take a 0.5 game lead over the Bucks. They also secured a top six finish, which is remarkable considering how poor a season they had last year. Chicago and Miami also swapped places as Chicago takes a 0.5 game lead over the Heat.

Western Conference: Houston’s win over Oklahoma City gives them a ton of confidence going into the playoffs, but will likely stay in the 2nd spot. With the Lakers win paired with Denver’s loss to Golden State, the Lakers move into 3rd and the Nuggets slide to 4th with a hot Golden State team only a game behind. With Minnesota’s win, they move back into the 6th spot while Memphis slides to 8th. With the Clippers win over Dallas, they move into 7th and will face the Mavericks again today. Although not mathematically eliminated, San Antonio is on the verge of being officially a lottery team again. With Portland’s loss, they’ll likely follow shortly thereafter.

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected points in the paint according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Another day where we barely squeak by to earn a win. Day 3 we had exactly 125 points, yesterday we had +1 on assists and steals, and today we had exactly 5 blocks. Let’s keep riding this luck train until it runs out. We swapped in Davion Mitchell for Jared Butler based on recent play, so fingers crossed it’ll pan out and lead us to another win.
