NBA Fast Break Run 13 | Day 3
Today’s Objective(s): 125 Points Scored
Recap & Overview:
Another day and another wide swath of losses thanks to underperformers amongst the most utilized players. Across the NBA, there were only 16 players who accumulated at least nine (9) rebounds. There were six (6) players who were present in 45% or more of lineups and only two (2) delivered what was expected - Vucevic had 10 and Gobert had 12, which earns the latter the Fast Break Stud of the Day. Honorable mention goes to Edey (16 rebounds; 2% of lineups), Avdija (15 rebounds; 5% of lineups), and Mitchell Robinson (14 rebounds; 2% of lineups).
On the other end of the spectrum, Josh Hart (56%) only had 4, Poeltl (49%) only had 5, Giannis (45%) only had 5, and Okongwu (45%) only had 6. Each of those four could have an argument for Fast Break Dud of the Day and we won’t contest those arguments. Congratulations to the foursome of Duds on their illustrious award.
Two days into Run 13 and we are already below 50 remaining perfect records as that is two straight days with under 15% winners. Day 2 ended in exciting fashion as the Minnesota v. Denver game went into double-overtime (which had the buzz of a playoff game) and Joker had another triple-double and scored over 60 points. The win percentage, however, may have increased meaningfully had Gobert not fouled out in the 4th quarter.
Whether you have no wins, one win, or two wins, there’s still a lot of clock left on this run. Let’s get a win today.
Today’s Objective(s):
Fast Break Day 3 requires five (5) players who will score 125.0 or more points, which means your lineup will need to average 25.0 PTS per player. Points day is always challenging as one player could sink your win potential, but one player having a night similar to Curry yesterday can carry you to a win. It’s a matter of lucking into a decent day across your lineup where you at least reach the minimum threshold to earn a win.
Point Scorers: Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jayson Tatum, Kawhi Leonard, Trae Young
Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: SGA (92%), D. Mitchell (73%), J. Tatum (67%), N. Jokic (45%), T. Young (40%)
Pro Mode Limitations: Challenge Reward or Crafting Challenge
Looking Ahead:
Tomorrow: 25 Assists & 5 Steals will be the two objectives; 12 teams in action
Objectives frequency (after today):
2x: AST, STL, BLK, PIP, 3PM, PTS
1x: FGM, FGA, OREB, AST-TO, 3PA
Considerations:
Orlando has the least number of games remaining (5)
Seventeen (17) teams have the most number of games this run (7)
Atlanta, New York, & San Antonio are playing the tail-end of a back-to-back
All teams will be active on Day 12 & Day 13
Day 8 only has 4 teams in action, but the objective is lower than usual
Day 6 & 11 only has 10 teams in action
There are five days where there are 20 or more teams in action
6 of 11 days this run will have a single objective (or resembles a single objective)
Assists minus turnovers & steals make their return to Fast Break, but +/- is not included this run
Pro mode has a different limitation each day; it also has different objectives compared to Classic
NBA Playoff Picture:
In the East, Cleveland has less to play for as they have a comfortable lead ahead of Boston. If the Celtics can’t catch the Cavaliers, they may rest their stars for a game or two before the playoffs begin on April 19th. Additionally, New York has an edge on Indiana, Detroit, and Milwaukee so they may be in a similar position. Those three teams may continue to push for positioning. Atlanta and Orlando will likely keep the gas on the pedal to ensure they stay in the 7th & 8th position and stave off any advances by Miami or Chicago.
In the West, Oklahoma City has nothing to play for so they may end up resting some starters also. Beyond that, there’s a logjam as Houston, Denver, and the Lakers are jockeying for position in the 2-4 slots. In the 5-8 slot, there are four teams fighting for position, which will be the difference between a top 6 finish or a play-in tournament game or two. Dallas, Sacramento, and Phoenix are fighting to stay or get into the play-in tournament. Portland has an outside chance at making the play-in, but they’re the furthest behind of the possible teams who will make the postseason.
Statistical Approach:
Top players in projected points scored according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 13 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):
Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.
With KAT’s DNP, we subbed in Deni Avdija which turned out to be a really good decision as it led us to a win. With Josh Hart’s meager performance & Okongwu’s mediocre showing, it didn’t look good going into the final game, but Gobert took care of business in the night cap. Day 3 is looking dicey though.
