NBA Fast Break Run 13 | Day 2

Today’s Objective(s): 45 Rebounds

Recap & Overview:

If you had said that Herro, Derrick White, Luka, & Tatum would combine to shoot 6 for 35 from outside the arc (17%) before the first game tipped, you’d be called crazy as not even the Fast Break curse could make that happen. Somehow, it happened. After Day 1 of Fast Break Run 13, the idea of a curse attached to players on specific days gains a little more traction - especially for the 87% of Fast Break participants who did not earn a win yesterday.

Considering Tyler Herro was utilized in 63% of lineups and his inability to make any three pointers (0 for 6), he is your Fast Break Dud of the Day. The only player of the top five most utilized who took care of business was Jordan Poole. He was utilized by 63% of lineups and made 7 of 13 three pointers, so he is your clear Fast Break Stud of the Day.

With only a single day under our belt in Run 13, we are already below 700 remaining perfect records this run. Day 2 is more straightforward and has a higher probability of earning a win, but there are no guarantees in Fast Break. Be sure to set a viable lineup to earn a win today.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 2 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 45.0 or more rebounds, which means your lineup will need to average 9.0 REB per player. There are a wide range of players who have the capability of gathering 10+ rebounds on any given night. Any additional rebounds will help make up for any deficits created by others in your lineup.

  • Glass Crashers:

    • S Tier: Rudy Gobert

    • A Tier: Onyeka Okongwu, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Karl-Anthony Towns, Donovan Clingan, Deni Avdija, Josh Hart

    • B Tier: Nikola Vucevic, Jakob Poeltl, Josh Giddey, Wendell Carter, Nick Richards

  • Top Five (5) Players in Classic Lineups: R. Gobert (85%), K. Towns (84%), N. Vucevic (79%), G. Antetokounmpo (48%), J. Hart (44%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 125 Points Scored will be the single objective; 18 teams in action

  • Objectives frequency (after today):

    • 3x: PTS

    • 2x: AST, STL, BLK, PIP, 3PM

    • 1x: FGM, FGA, OREB, AST-TO, 3PA

Considerations:

  • Brooklyn, Dallas, Houston, Orlando, & Utah have the least number of games remaining (6)

  • Atlanta, Golden State, New York, & San Antonio have the most number of games this run (8)

  • Chicago, Memphis, & Orlando are playing the tail-end of a back-to-back

  • All teams will be active on Day 12 & Day 13

  • Day 8 only has 4 teams in action, but the objective is lower than usual

  • Day 6 & 11 only has 10 teams in action

  • There are five days where there are 20 or more teams in action

  • 7 of 12 days this run will have a single objective (or resembles a single objective)

  • Assists minus turnovers & steals make their return to Fast Break, but +/- is not included this run

  • Pro mode has a different limitation each day; it also has different objectives compared to Classic

NBA Playoff Picture:

As the run progresses, be mindful of teams who are in tank-mode (i.e. would prefer to lose for better draft positioning) as well as those who have nothing to gain by playing (Cleveland is 4.0 games ahead of Boston who is 8.5 games ahead of New York in the East and Oklahoma City has clinched the first overall seed in the West). As all teams have between 6-8 games remaining in the schedule, so some teams may choose to rest their stars in preparation for the playoffs. This will have an immediate effect on lineup options later in this run.

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected rebounds according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 13 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Not the start we were hoping for - Jalen Green, Coby White, and Tyler Herro were all major letdowns yesterday. Hoping today bucks the trend and we earn our first win of this run.
