NBA Fast Break Run 9 | Day 2

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 5 Steals & 5 Blocks to earn your win.

Overview:

Last run, only three of eleven days exceeded 50% winners, but we’re off to a good start as 84% of Fast Breakers earned a win yesterday. A big reason for that was Tyrese Maxey who was utilized in 58% of lineups and contributed 15 FGM (37.5% of the objective), which earned him the Fast Break Stud of the Day. On the other end of the spectrum was Kevin Durant who only made 6 FGM. Not far off from the average threshold needed, but that’s a hit to 64% of lineups who are also striving to earn a daily reward.

Unlike points, assists, rebounds, and other objectives, there will be days where your perennial stars in steals & blocks could put up a goose egg. So, you’ll need a balanced approach to achieve today’s objective and hope certain players in your lineup can accumulate more than one of either stat to cover any shortcomings in others. Chances are you earned a win yesterday - let’s get another one today and stay on track for the top rewards available.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 2 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 5.0 or more steals and 5.0 or more blocks, which means your lineup will need to average 1.0 STL & 1.0 BLK per player. Last run you needed 7.0 of each, so this is more attainable but not a given. There are a handful of players who are capable of delivering both objectives, but many will opt to moneyball it and utilize specialists like Dyson Daniels with steals. Whatever your approach, leverage the data below to set your best lineup possible.

  • Little of Both: Amen Thompson, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nic Claxton

  • Thieves:

    • Tier 1: Dyson Daniels, Jarred Vanderbilt, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams

    • Tier 2: Cason Wallace, Tari Eason, Nikola Jokic, Mike Conley, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Jordan Poole, Amen Thompson, Jaden McDaniels, Franz Wagner, Toumani Camara, De'Aaron Fox

  • Blockers:

    • Tier 1: Victor Wembanyama, Walker Kessler, Myles Turner

    • Tier 2: Jaxson Hayes, Nic Claxton, Rudy Gobert, Kel'el Ware, Mark Williams

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: M. Turner (68%), W. Kessler (52%), D. Daniels (46%), R. Gobert (29%), G. Bitadze (28%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 35 REB & 40 PIP will be the two objectives; 10 teams in action

  • Objectives frequency (after today):

    • 2x: PIP, PTS, 3PM, 3PA, REB, AST, FGM, STL

    • 1x: +/-, OREB, AST-TO, FGA, BLK

Considerations:

  • Ten (10) teams have the least number of games this run (6)

  • Five (5) teams have the most number of games this run (8)

  • Charlotte, Denver, Phoenix, & San Antonio are playing the tail-end of back-to-back games

  • Day 10 & 12 only have 6 & 8 teams in action, respectively so your lineup options will be more limited

  • Day 7 only have two (2) teams in action, so plan around this date to avoid being stuck without options

  • Day 6, 9, 11, & 13 have 20 or more teams in action (Day 13 has all 30 teams in action)

  • Half the days this run will have a single objective (or resembles a single objective)

  • Assists minus turnovers makes a return on Day 10

  • The always volatile +/- lands on Day 7 with a slighter higher threshold (30 vs. 25)

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected steals & blocks according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.
