NBA Fast Break Run 9 | Day 1
Pick 5 Players who will combine for 40 Field Goals Made to earn your win.
Overview:
As one Fast Break run ends, another begins - hopefully with more winners each day. In terms of changes relative to Run 8, the number of days expands from 11 to 14 which means higher win-based thresholds. On the plus side, some objective thresholds have been lowered, but we’ll also see both assists minus turnovers and the dreaded +/- day. The high volume of injuries to top players will continue to be one of the leading factors to poor outcomes. With the lengthier run, your lineups will likely be strained unless you have an extensive collection so planning ahead will be key to your success. Also note at the conclusion of this run, we will have a short break until Fast Break Run 10 due to the All-Star Break.
If you are a tome+ subscriber, Witty’s Cheat Sheet has been updated for Run 9 which gives you an advantage to mapping out your lineups for this run. Alternatively, you can follow along with the Common Challenge we implement each run if you have a limited Top Shot collection and do not many/any rares or legendaries. Use the resources at your disposal and start this run with a win.
Today’s Objective(s):
Fast Break Day 1 requires five (5) players who will make 40.0 or more field goals, which means your lineup will need to average 8.0 FGM per player. Although there is only one objective today, it is not one that you can sleep on. Planning ahead will be vital to your success in Run 9, but you should avoid leaving your scraps on Day 1.
Shooters Shoot: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Tyrese Maxey, Kevin Durant, Cade Cunningham, Victor Wembanyama, Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Devin Booker, Nikola Vucevic
Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: K. Durant (67%), T. Maxey (51%), K. Irving (45%), G. Antetokounmpo (43%), N. Jokic (41%)
Looking Ahead (Run 9):
Tomorrow, 5 STL & 5 BLK will be the two objectives; 18 teams in action
Objectives frequency (after today):
3x: STL
2x: BLK, PIP, PTS, 3PM, 3PA, REB, AST, FGM
1x: +/-, OREB, AST-TO, FGA
Considerations:
Assists minus turnovers makes a return on Day 10
The always volatile +/- lands on Day 7 with a slighter higher threshold (30 vs. 25)
Five (5) teams have the least number of games this run (6)
Fifteen (15) teams have the most number of games this run (8)
Day 10 & 12 only have 6 & 8 teams in action, respectively so your lineup options will be more limited
Day 7 only have two (2) teams in action, so plan around this date to avoid being stuck without options
Day 6, 9, 11, & 13 have 20 or more teams in action (Day 13 has all 30 teams in action)
Half the days this run will have a single objective (or resembles a single objective)
Statistical Approach:
Top players in projected field goals made according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 9 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):
Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.
To fill each slot where each option is utilized only once, we needed 70 unique players. Considering the high probability of injuries or scratches, we’ll need to be nimble and move players around as the days unfold. This is our starting point, but we’ll notate changes as they occur. Goal is the mid-tier pack with a stretch goal of 11 wins.
