NBA Fast Break Run 8 | Day 11

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 15 Three Pointers Made & 25 Three Point Attempts to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

We’ve reached the end of a challenging Fast Break run which feels like we’re hobbling to the finish. On a day where it felt like we would see the volume of winners finally break 50% again, we ended up with 33% who earned a win. The biggest underperformance occurred at the top where Sabonis was utilized in 88% of lineups who felt like a sure thing, but he only produced 6 points in the paint - 50% below the needed pace. Although he ended the game against the 76ers with a triple-double, neither the Kings nor most Fast Breakers earned a win and for that, he’s your Fast Break Dud of the Day. On the other end of the spectrum, Zubac was a machine on the offensive glass and delivered 9 offensive rebounds along with his 16 points in the paint. Although Zion scored more on the interior, Zubac carried the weight of the OREB burden for many successful lineups and for that he earned the coveted Fast Break Stud of the Day award.

Of the over 8,300 participants in Run 8, only one (1) person has 10 wins and has the inside track to earning the top prize. There are multiple 9-win patrons waiting on the wings and ready to take that top spot should patr3158 stumble on Day 11. Looking ahead to the next run (which is now live), there will be 14 days and will take us to the NBA All-Star break. The daily & run-based rewards will stay the same, but the win-based rewards are bumped up due to the lengthier run. Considering planning ahead could be the difference between two win-based rewards, resources available will be key in mapping out your plan of attack, so Witty’s Cheat Sheet (tome+ exclusive), the Run 9 Fast Break Grid, and Common Challenge will all be updated by tomorrow’s article.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 11 requires five (5) players who will make 15.0 or more three pointers and attempt 25.0 or more outside shots, which means your lineup will need to average 3.0 3PM & 5.0 3PA per player. The latter is more a formality as you need to attempt a three point shot in order to make one, so we’ll focus our attention on 3PM.

  • Threats from Outside: Donovan Mitchell, Anthony Edwards, Fred VanVleet, Jordan Poole, Jalen Green

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: J. Poole (76%), D. Mitchell (67%), L. Markkanen (49%), J. Green (48%), A. Edwards (44%)

Looking Ahead (Run 9):

  • Tomorrow, 40 FGM will be the single objective

  • Objectives frequency (after today):

    • 3x: FGM, STL

    • 2x: BLK, PIP, PTS, 3PM, 3PA, REB, AST

    • 1x: +/-, OREB, AST-TO, FGA

Considerations (Run 9):

  • Coming Soon

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected three pointers made & three point attempts according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 8 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

We barely inched by with a win thanks to Zubac’s last two points in the paint. That keeps the door open for the 6-win reward if we win today, which appears to be another tough one.
