NBA Fast Break Run 8 | Day 8

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 7 Blocks and 7 Steals to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

We are approaching the final third of this run and there are currently 79 perfect records with 4 games to go, which means we will need to start preparing for Run 9 (including all the tome+ exclusive resources). The duration of Run 9 has not been announced yet, but we are speculating it will likely take us to the NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco, CA. Unsurprisingly based on the day’s objective, we had another sub-50% win rate but the percentage of winners was higher than we anticipated given the circumstances.

Isaiah Hartenstein led the day with 6 assists and 11 rebounds, which would have accounted for almost half of the assists tally and a third of the rebounding objective. Due to his positive performance yesterday, he earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day award. On the other hand, Anfernee Simons was used in 51% of lineups, but only contributed 3 assists and 2 rebounds which was enough to walk away with the Fast Break Dud of the Day award. For today, anticipate another challenging day based on the always difficult blocks & steals. Without further ado, let’s dive into the projections.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 8 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 7.0 or more blocks and distribute 7.0 or more steals, which means your lineup will need to average 1.2 BLK & 1.2 STL per player. There aren’t many players who can deliver a little of both consistently, so you’ll likely utilize players who specialize in one category over the other. Dig into the projections below to help set your best lineup possible.

  • Little of Both: Anthony Davis, Jaren Jackson

  • Shot Blockers: Daniel Gafford, Brook Lopez, Anthony Davis, Walker Kessler

  • Professional Thieves: Dyson Daniels, Jarred Vanderbilt, Dejounte Murray, Ausar Thompson

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: J. Jackson (56%), B. Lopez (56%), A. Davis (48%), W. Kessler (45%), D. Daniels (41%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 25 +/- is the single objective; there are 8 teams in action

  • Objectives Breakdown (after today): +/-, OREB, 3PA, PIP, 3PM

Considerations:

  • No teams are playing the tail-end of a back-to-back today

  • The always challenging +/- will take place on Day 9 (tomorrow)

  • Denver, OKC, and San Antonio have the least number of games remaining (1)

  • Eight (8) teams have the most number of games remaining (3)

  • Day 8 & 10 have 20+ teams in action (10+ games)

  • Milwaukee’s last game is on Day 9 (tomorrow)

  • Of the 11 days in this run, five have 10 or fewer teams in action

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected blocks & steals according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 8 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Win #4 achieved after three straight losses. We will need two wins over the next four days to earn the 6-win pack. We are relying heavily on Dyson Daniels to have another stellar day of thievery to balance our lineup but it won’t be easy in general.
