NBA Fast Break Run 8 | Day 4

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 125 Points Scored to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

Fast Break Run 8 Day 3 was the first where less than 50% earned a win. Durant & LaMelo both had less than the average field goals needed (8 & 7 respectively), but De’Aaron Fox only had two (2) field goals which likely contributed to most of the losses incurred yesterday. If you’ve been following along with these articles, then it should not come as a surprise that he earned the not-so-coveted Fast Break Dud of the Day. If you had Cade Cunningham and/or DeMar DeRozan, then you were likely in good position in earning a win. Now, if you had SGA in your lineup, then you were sitting even prettier as he contributed about 38% of the day’s objective which earned him the Fast Break Stud of the Day Award. Considering he was used in 68% of lineups yet only 44% earned a win, there were other factors at play which dragged down lineups even if it included SGA.

With eight (8) days remaining (including today), there remains a high number of perfect runs so far. With some dicey objectives on the horizon though, it is a matter of time before perfection dwindles quickly. Until then, put your best foot forward, be sure to plan ahead, and keep yourself in the know on various injuries that may impact your lineup. And with that, it’s time to dive into the projections.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 4 requires five (5) players who will score 125.0 points, which means your lineup will need to average 25.0 PTS per player. Although today’s objective is straightforward, it doesn’t mean it is easy. There have been numerous cases where normally reliable players for some stats have their worst night in the category that’s needed for Fast Break. Coincidence? Perhaps…but it is more fun to conjure up an outlandish conspiracy. Personally, I heard Wemby’s alien friends have something to do with it. Hopefully you can avoid their parlays or prop bets to earn a win today, but let’s dive into the stats to help you identify your best options.

  • Walking Buckets: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Zach LaVine, Trae Young, Jayson Tatum

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: D. Lillard (53%), J. Tatum (49%), G. Antetokounmpo (47%), P. Banchero (43%), N. Jokic (40%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 40 rebounds is the single objective; there are only 6 teams in action

  • Objectives Breakdown (after today):

    • 2x: 3PM, REB

    • 1x: BLK, STL, +/-, OREB, 3PA, AST, PIP, PTS

Considerations:

  • Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Golden State, LA Clippers, Milwaukee, OKC, and Sacramento are playing the tail-end of a back-to-back today

  • The always challenging +/- will take place on Day 9

  • Seven (7) teams have the least number of games this run (3)

  • Five (5) teams have the most number of games this run (5)

  • Day 7 only have two (2) teams in action, so plan around this date to avoid being stuck without options

  • Day 6, 8, & 10 have 20+ teams in action (10+ games)

  • Milwaukee’s last game is on Day 9

  • Of the 11 days in this run, five have 10 or fewer teams in action

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected points scored according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

The Milwaukee-New Orleans game being postponed threw a wrench in our plan to use Giannis, so we ended up moving him to today while slotting in DeRozan on Day 3, which turned out to be a great decision as he contributed 12 field goals to balance our Fox’s measly TWO field goals. Win #4, loading!
