NBA Fast Break Run 8 | Day 2

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 40 Points in the Paint and 35 Rebounds to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

We are collectively off to a solid start for Run 8 as 75% of the 5,000+ participants earned a win. In terms of most impactful based on usage, LaMelo Ball earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day as he contributed 9 assists & 5 three pointers. Both James Harden & Trae Young earned honorable mentions as they were top three in utilization, also. Although not as impactful as the first three players mentioned, both Steph Curry & Cade Cunningham had strong performances as well, so there are no notable Fast Break Dud of the Day award.

There are ten (10) days remaining in this run and there will likely be one more run before the NBA All-Star Game, which will likely run for 14 days. With that said, anticipate a comparatively longer Fast Break series for Run 9. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves though, Day 2 feels winnable so let’s focus on the task at hand.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 1 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 40.0 or more points in the paint and gather 35.0 or more rebounds, which means your lineup will need to average 8.0 PIP & 7.0 REB per player. There are multiple players who are projected to exceed both objectives, so you won’t be limited on options. You will, however, need to plan ahead to avoid any avoidable pitfalls in your lineup. Refer to the Fast Break Grid below and you’ll quickly identify the dates that will likely be challenging due to various limitations.

  • Little of Both: Nikola Jokic, Anthony Davis, Karl-Anthony Towns, Deandre Ayton, Jakob Poeltl

  • Distributors: Anthony Davis, Nikola Jokic, LeBron James, Karl-Anthony Towns, Paolo Banchero, Jalen Brunson, Deandre Ayton, Tyrese Maxey, Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl

    • 1x: FGM, FGA, BLK, STL, +/-, OREB, 3PA, AST, PIP

Considerations:

  • New York is the only team playing a tail-end of a back-to-back today

  • The top prizes have dropped in value, but the number of winners has increased significantly (435 daily; 1,500 overall)

  • Assists minus turnovers is missing again this run, but +/- has returned (Day 9)

  • Indiana & San Antonio have the least number of games this run (3) and will be playing two games in Paris, France during this run

  • Atlanta & Cleveland have the most number of games this run (7)

  • Day 7 only have two (2) teams in action, so plan around this date to avoid being stuck without options

  • Day 6, 8, & 10 have 20+ teams in action (10+ games)

  • Milwaukee’s last game is on Day 9

  • Of the 11 days in this run, five have 10 or fewer teams in action

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected points in the paint & rebounds according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

We ended up subbing out Kyrie for CJ McCollum for more three pointer firepower. Harden’s 10 assists were clutch as Trae did not have his best assists game, but he did sink six three pointers to make up the difference. Win #2, loading.
