NBA Fast Break Run 7 | Day 8

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 5 Blocks and 5 Steals to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

Yesterday felt much better as 89% of participants earned a win (as anticipated). All 101 perfect records remained perfect as we officially cross the midway point of this series. Karl-Anthony Towns was used in 60% of lineups and rewarded those Fast Breakers with 5 offensive rebounds and 16 points in the pains, which covered 100% of the OREB objective and 45.7% of the PIP objective. With this performance, he earned yesterday’s Fast Break Stud of the Day. Of the top players used, none delivered no offensive rebounds and all contributed at least 6 points in the paint. For this reason, no players were duds which is always appreciated.

As we have seven (7) days remaining in this run, you will need at least four (4) wins thus far to achieve the 11-win objective. Officially, only 101 people have a chance at the perfect run reward including 14 wins, so the majority are capped at the 11-win reward. Let’s start the second half of this run on the right foot - with a win.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 8 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 5.0 or more blocks and accumulate 5.0 or more steals, which means your lineup will need to average 1.0 BLK & 1.0 STL per player. Between the two stats, blocks will have the fewest number of players who are projected above today’s objective targets, but both are not guaranteed. As expected, there are a handful of players who have a higher likelihood of delivering both objectives. Alternatively, you can take a moneyball approach and utilize players who have a history of delivering multiples of one stat. Let’s dive into today’s targets.

  • Little of Both: Jaren Jackson, Anthony Davis

  • Pro Thieves: Fred VanVleet, Jaime Jaquez, Jaren Jackson, Ausar Thompson, Josh Hart, Bam Adebayo, Scottie Barnes, Jaden McDaniels, Anthony Davis, Alperen Sengun, Desmond Bane

  • Pro Rejectors: Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Davis, Jaren Jackson, Amen Thompson, Ivica Zubac, Jakob Poeltl, Rudy Gobert, Draymond Green

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: O. Anunoby (52%), J. Jackson (42%), A. Davis (36%), I. Zubac (32%), D. Green (32%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 15 assists and 30 rebounds will be the two objectives; there are 14 teams in action

  • Objectives Breakdown (after today):

    • 2x: REB, AST, 3PM

    • 1x: FGA, FGM, 3PA, PTS

Considerations:

  • Charlotte and Utah have the least number of games remaining (2)

  • Eleven (11) teams have the most number of games remaining (4)

  • New York & Washington are playing the tail end of a back-to-back

  • After today, 2 of the 6 remaining days have a single objective & 4 of 6 have two objectives

  • Charlotte, Dallas, Memphis, New Orleans, New York, Toronto, and Utah’s last game this run is on Day 12

  • Day 11 has the least number of teams in action (10)

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected blocks & steals according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 7 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Halfway through this run and we have five (5) wins. We will need to win six out of seven to earn our stretch goal and only two to reach the mid-tier reward. Fingers crossed!
