NBA Fast Break Run 6 | Day 5

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 25 Free Throws Made to earn your win.

Overview:

We are about a third of the way through Fast Break Run 5 and it has been a more pronounced rollercoaster. Instead of the knee jerk up and downs, the first four days say low success on Day 1 & Day 2 followed by high success on Day 3 and Day 4. More specifically, Fast Break Day 4 saw 93% of the participants walk away with a win, which exceeded Day 3’s high watermark of 88%. This means the majority of the 7,200 participants have at least two wins and are one win away from the first tier reward. Alperen Sengun was used in 37% of lineups and delivered 25 FGA & 32 PIP, which accounted for 56% and 80% respectively and earns him the coveted Fast Break Stud of the Day award. If you need a versatile player for your lineup, having a Sengun rare will continue to come in handy. The other four top used players on Day 3 also delivered high numbers, so there were no duds amongst the top tier players.

With nine (9) days to go (including today), there remains a window of opportunity to earn the 9-win pack even if you don’t have a perfect record. Keep in mind that there are daily rewards for Top Shot Credit, so it’s worth putting your best foot forward based on the numbers at hand. For example, FGA was never in question for Day 4, but it was likely a big factor for the top daily winners. Also, be mindful of injuries and late scratches. Dame and Giannis are day-to-day, but have not played in a couple games. So if they’re available to play, anticipate many others swapping players out to make room for one or both of them. If neither are available, it’ll make today slightly more challenging and interesting. Let’s dive into the data.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 5 requires five (5) players who will make 25.0 or more free throws, which means your lineup will need to average 5.0 FTM per player. You’ll want players who not only get to the line, but can make the shot.

  • Inside Scorers: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: J. Brunson (53%), J. Embiid (51%), D. DeRozan (50%), T. Young (39%), SGA (30%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 25 free throws made is needed and there are 18 teams in action

  • Objectives (after today):

    • 2x: STL

    • 1x: AST, 3PA, +/-, OREB, AST-TO, 3PM, PTS, REB, BLK, FGM, PIP

Considerations:

  • Phoenix has the least number of games remaining (3)

  • Oklahoma City has the most games remaining (6)

  • Dallas, Denver, Golden State, New York, and Phoenix are playing the tail end of a back-to-back

  • Each day, there are at least 10 teams in action

  • Both +/- and AST-TO make an appearance in Run 6 (Day 10 & 13)

  • Day 10 & Day 13 are looking to be the most challenging of this run

  • 8 of 13 days have two objectives; 5 have a single objective

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected free throws made according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 6 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Win number 2 secured! Sengun carried me more than 50% of the way for both objectives and made up for poor showings by both Siakam and Sochan. Let’s keep the momentum going and get win number 3 today.
