NBA Fast Break Run 5 | Day 6
Pick 5 Players who will combine for 4 Blocks and 15 Free Throws Made to earn your win.
Overview:
Fast Break Day 5 rebounded from Day 4’s abysmal outcomes and 70% of participants came away with a victory (although this number may be higher due to a glitch with SGA as he’s showing FGM instead of PIP in Fast Break). Surprisingly, 6 of the perfect 38 from yesterday failed to secure the win, so we are down to 32 perfect records. Considering many participants will set their lineups in advance, Day 5 could have thrown these folks off their rhythm as Day 5 & Day 8 lineups could not be filled until after the previous round concluded. Don’t make the same mistake and be sure to set your Day 8 lineup (10 three pointers made) prior to the Emirates NBA Cup Finals between Milwaukee and Oklahoma City.
Through the midway point of the second game yesterday, the number of winners were well below 30%, but big performances from Alperen Sengun (3 fouls in the first half) and Isaiah Hartenstein saved many Fast Break lineups. The latter of which contributed 18 points in the paint and 1 offensive rebound to earn the Fast Break Stud of the Day. Had he had a mediocre game, 52% of Fast Break participants would be cursing the Onyeka Okongwu’s name as he contributed the double donut - no offensive rebounds and no points in the paint in 19 minutes played. He had two buckets…and both were three pointers. Hopefully he did not sink your lineup.
Considering today’s objectives, we will likely buck the up and down trend of this run as I anticipate over 50% will earn a win today. Let’s get you on the right side of that equation.
Today’s Objective(s):
Fast Break Day 6 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 4 or more blocks and sink 15 or more free throws, which means your lineup will need to average 0.8 BLK and 3.0 FTM per player. These are comparatively low thresholds, so it should be a green day for most participants. There’s room to be flexible (if necessary) as there are a lot of players who are projected to exceed the required thresholds. Said differently, if there is a different day this run where you need AD, KD, Wemby, etc., you have the freedom to use them elsewhere without detrimentally affecting your outcome today.
You need to be close to the basket to score in the paint, which so happens to be where you can grab an offensive rebound. Although not directly correlated, they’re not far off. So, there are players who can get you both and there are others who specialize in one objective or the other. Let’s dive into today’s stats.
Little of Both: Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant
Returns to Sender: Victor Wembanyama, Donovan Clingan, Myles Turner, Anthony Davis, Jaren Jackson, Goga Bitadze, Dereck Lively, Alexandre Sarr, Rudy Gobert, Kristaps Porzingis, Yves Missi, Kevin Durant, P.J. Washington, OG Anunoby, Jonathan Isaac, Daniel Gafford
Loves the Freebies: Anthony Davis, Devin Booker, Jalen Brunson, Jayson Tatum, Ja Morant, Karl-Anthony Towns, Luka Doncic, Kevin Durant, Julius Randle, Stephen Curry
Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: J. Jackson (78%), M. Turner (64%), A. Davis (56%), R. Gobert (36%), K. Porzingis (32%)
Emirates NBA Cup:
Looking Ahead:
Tomorrow, 25 assists & 5 steals will be the two (2) objectives and there are 12 teams in action in regular season play
Remaining objectives after today:
2x: 3PM
1x: STL, FGA, FGM, AST, REB, PTS, PIP
Considerations:
Day 8 will only have two (2) teams in action (OKC & MIL)
Day 10 & 12 will only have six (6) teams in action
Sacramento & New Orleans have the most number of games (4)
Every other team has three (3) games remaining
Plan your lineups around Day 12 as it requires the most divergent stats of this run - points in the paint & three pointers made
There are no games scheduled for December 18th
December 19th is a big day for returns from injury including (tentatively) Paolo Banchero, Zion Williamson, & others
Statistical Approach:
Top players in projected blocks & free throws made according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):
Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.
After Okongwu’s stinker of a performance, I figured today was done…but Isaiah Hartenstein & Alperen Sengun had massive second halfs of their respective games and we walked away with a much needed win. The NBA Cup Finals (Day 8) is looking challenging though. AJ Green only has a 2023-2024 Common and will likely be used in most lineups. They’re (currently) $0.93 on flowty.io in case you don’t have one.
