NBA Fast Break Run 4 | Day 10

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 5 Blocks and 40 Field Goals Made to earn your win.

Overview:

Across the seven games on Day 9, there were a bountiful amount of players who average near or over 25 points per game, which meant the day should’ve been one of the easier ones during this run…but a wide range of off-games (that and injuries have been a common trend during Run 4) resulted in only 37% of Fast Break participants coming away with a win. Of the 35 collectors who had 7 wins yesterday, only 15 of them won on Day 9 which trims the pool for the top reward. Day 10 will likely result in more falling off the pace considering the always challenging blocks and the high threshold for field goals made.

Joker is quickly becoming the clear frontrunner for the 2024-2025 NBA Season and the clear frontrunner for Fast Break MVP. He scored 56 points on the day and carried many lineups to a win. He was not one of the top five players used today though, so SGA earns your Fast Break Stud of the Day as he was used in 42% of lineups and delivered 31 points. Joker earns the honorable mention for his huge points output even though they lost to the Wizards where Jordan Poole dropped 39 points. Donovan Mitchell, on the other hand, sat in the shadows of Evan Mobley who scored 41 points to his meager 18 and earns the Fast Break Dud of the Day. Honorable mention goes to Devin Booker who underwhelmed slightly with his 22 points for 75% of lineups and if you had Jayson Tatum in your lineup, his 17 point output was a drag on your overall tally.

With just two days remaining in this run and Run 5 beginning on December 12th, some people may need to win out and others are out of the running for the next reward. Day 11th will be important for those at the top of the standings and there will only be two teams in action that day. As more rare moments are being released for top players, it creates an opportunity to pick up inexpensive double uses for top stat players if you don’t have them already (as well as some rising stars). Now is as good a time as any to load up for the next run.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 10 requires five (5) players who will block 5 or more shots and make 40 or more field goals, which means your lineup will need to average 1.0 BLK & 8.0 FGM per player. Today isn’t the most difficult day of this run (that honor goes to Day 8), but it certainly is top three most challenging. Blocks in itself are challenging to predict, but there are some players who can generate them in bulk (Walker Kessler for example on Day 8). Considering the high field goal threshold, you can’t afford to load either category as it could risk missing the other. Someone like Giannis or Joker can certainly give you more flexibility as they have averaged a high number of field goals (12.1 and 13.5 respectively) made over their last 10 games, but one bad game from any of your other players and your day is cooked. Said differently, today is a sneaky difficult day if you’re not paying attention and aren’t strategically setting your lineup (vs. relying solely on luck).

Let’s dive into the stats and see which players can get you both or a high volume of one stat over the other. Scroll down further to the tables for a deeper analysis. If you’re a tome+ subscriber, view the data table to see projections, last 10, and season projections.

  • Little of Both: Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo

  • Shot Blockers: Victor Wembanyama, Walker Kessler, Brook Lopez, Anthony Davis, Myles Turner, Jaren Jackson, Goga Bitadze, Nick Richards, Evan Mobley, Rudy Gobert, Yves Missi

  • Shot Makers: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic

  • Top Five (5) Players in Lineups: G. Antetokounmpo (53%), A. Davis (46%), E. Mobley (38%), J. Jackson (34%), M. Turner (31%)

Upcoming Objective(s):

  • Tomorrow, 15 assists & 30 rebounds will be the two objectives and there are only two teams in action

  • Remaining objectives after today: REB, AST

Considerations:

  • Charlotte, Cleveland, Denver, Memphis, Miami, New Orleans, Phoenix, & Washington are playing the tail end of a back-to-back today

  • Day 11 has only two (2) teams in action

  • Aside from the four teams who have no more games this run (Boston, Dallas, Detroit, & Oklahoma City), every other team has one (1) game remaining (refer to the Fast Break Grid)

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected blocks & field goals made made according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Rewards:

  • Daily Reward: Top 100 each day will receive a Fast Break Rookie Debut pack

  • Milestone Reward: Reach 3, 6, or 9 wins and each tier earns you a pack

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as Tome Society participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Things looked good with my first two players (SGA & Cade), but then Tatum, Jaylen, & Booker all scored around 20 points and we fell short by five measly points. These three are usually reliable scorers but they had off days, which means we need to win out in order to earn the mid tier reward. Day 10 is a bit concerning, but we’ll see how we do. Fingers crossed we get across the line today.
