NBA Fast Break Run 4 | Day 3

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 15 Three Pointers Made and 25 Assists to earn your win.

Overview:

With 30 points in the paint (86% of the objective) and 12 rebounds (40%), Giannis led 55% of lineups to a win and earns the Fast Break Stud of the Day Award. Jalen Johnson, on the other hand, earns the Fast Break Dud of the Day Award as he contributed 8 points in the paint & 3 rebounds. Honorable mention goes to Jalen Duren who contributed a minuscule 4 points in the paint and no rebounds in 13 minutes played.

Fortunately and contrary to Day 1, 70% of participants walked away a winner. With the persistent string of injuries throughout the league, be sure to track your lineup to ensure you are putting your best foot forward. For example, LaMelo Ball has missed his last two games even though he was one of the most heavily rostered on Day 1 (fortunately most people swapped him out in time). On the other hand, Luka Doncic may return today and would likely make an immediate impact but he’s been out with a wrist sprain and has missed five straight games so he’d be a wild card. Interestingly enough, many of the Fast Break regulars are keeping closer tabs on injury reports than they have in the past.

There are nine (9) days remaining and there are some tricky days ahead so plan accordingly. Remember, there is one less day this run so your room for error in reaching the 9-win tier is thinner. Day 11 (2 teams in action), Day 6 requires 30 overall plus/minus (Boston & Orlando players are popular picks), and Day 8 (two divergent objectives) are going to be the most challenging.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 3 requires five (5) players who sink 15 or more Three Pointers and distribute 25 or more Assists, which means your lineup will need to average 3.0 3PM & 5.0 AST per player. There are some players who are proficient in both categories and there are others who excel in one category over the other. Between the two objectives, three pointers will be the more challenging based on the players in action today, so your focus should land on having the right mix of players who will not only get you across the line, but do enough to make up for underperformers.

  • Little of Both: Tyrese Haliburton, Tyler Herro, Jayson Tatum

  • Outside Snipers: Tyler Herro, Donovan Mitchell, CJ McCollum, Jayson Tatum, Tyrese Haliburton, Norman Powell, Dalton Knecht

  • Distributors: James Harden, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton, Ja Morant, Luka Doncic, Chris Paul, Fred VanVleet, Scottie Barnes, Darius Garland, Elfrid Payton, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Franz Wagner

  • Top Five (5) Players in Lineups: T. Haliburton (80%), J. Harden (72%), T. Herro (50%), L. James (38%), D. Garland (38%)

Upcoming Objective(s):

  • Tomorrow, 35 Field Goals Made & 45 Field Goal Attempts will be the two (2) objectives and there are only eight (8) teams in action

  • Remaining objectives after today:

    • 2x: BLK, FGM, REB, AST

    • 1x: FGA, STL, +/-, OREB, PTS, 3PM

Considerations:

  • Dallas & Utah are playing the tail end of a back-to-back today

  • Day 4 has only eight (8) teams in action

  • Day 6 has the extra elusive Plus/Minus objective

  • Day 8 will be one of the most challenging days this run as it requires OREB & 3PM

  • Day 11 has only two (2) teams in action

  • Detroit has the least number of games remaining (3)

  • There are thirteen (13) teams who have five (5) games remaining (refer to the Fast Break Grid)

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected Three Pointers Made & Assists according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Rewards:

  • Daily Reward: Top 100 each day will receive a Fast Break Rookie Debut pack

  • Milestone Reward: Reach 3, 6, or 9 wins and each tier earns you a pack

    • 3 wins: One (1) Grail Seeker pack

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as Tome Society participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Thank you, Walker Kessler. It was looking bleak going into the final game of the day and he and John helped us get over the hump. That brings our tally to 1-1 on this series and keeps us in the running for the 9-win rewards.
