NBA Fast Break Run 6 | Day 12

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 50 Points in the Paint and 12 Offensive Rebounds to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

We have completed 11 days this run and have 2 remaining. After a tough Day 10 where only 33% of participants earned a win, all 12 perfect records managed to stay perfect. The remaining two days are no walks in the park, but there’s a low probability a one-loss Fast Breaker will be able to leapfrog into the lead, but stranger things have happened. If you played Dyson Daniels yesterday, he took care of all five of your needed steals and is quickly becoming a must-have player on steal days (and earned the Fast Break Stud of the Day).

If you had Goga Bitadze or Anthony Davis, they delivered 3 blocks apiece along with some steals sprinkled in (Goga with 1, AD with 3). If, however, you were one of the 64% of lineups who had Jaren Jackson, he gave you one (1) block. Even worse, if you were one of the 33% of lineups who had OG Anunoby, he contributed donuts in both stat categories. Between the two, OG takes the Fast Break Dud of the Day Award.

If you earned a win yesterday, maintain the momentum. If you did not, let’s turn that around today.

Note: Fast Break Run 7 has been posted which will span 14 days instead of 13.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 12 requires five (5) players who will score 50.0 or more points in the paint and gather 12.0 or more offensive rebounds, which means your lineup will need to average 10.0 PIP & 2.4 OREB per player. There are a few players who score in bunches and do so close to the basket and have a tendency to be in the right spot to gather an offensive board and secure the close range points. Alternatively, you could take the moneyball approach and identify specialists in either category to round out your lineup.

  • Little of Both: Ivica Zubac, Nikola Jokic, Karl-Anthony Towns, Deandre Ayton, Nikola Vucevic

  • Gets Buckets in the Painted Area: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Kevin Durant, Ivica Zubac, Karl-Anthony Towns

  • Crashes the Offensive Boards: Ivica Zubac, Walker Kessler, Zach Edey, Rudy Gobert, Jalen Duren

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: D. Ayton (61%), W. Kessler (48%), G. Antetokounmpo (44%), N. Vucevic (40%), B. Adebayo (39%)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 25 assists minus turnovers is the single objective and there are 12 teams in action

Considerations:

  • Dallas has no more games this run

  • Golden State & Utah both play on the two remaining days this run

  • Atlanta, Denver, Detroit, Memphis, New York, and San Antonio are playing the tail end of a back-to-back

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected points in the paint & offensive rebounds according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Tome Collective’s Fast Break Run 6 Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as the Tome Collective account participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Dyson Daniels did his thing and contributed 4 steals…but few others did much of anything so we wrap this run with the six win reward. Onward to Run 7!
