NBA Fast Break Run 6 | Day 11

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 5 Blocks and 5 Steals to earn your win.

Recap & Overview:

Oklahoma City players thrived in today’s challenge as they took care of business against the LA Clippers and won by 18 (which was closer at the half). Jalen Williams was used in 26% of lineups and delivered 8 FGM & +33, which means he’s your Fast Break Stud of the Day. Of the top five players in lineups, Dame was the only one with a negative +/-, which by default bestows upon him the Dud of the Day Award. Honorable mention goes to the Philadelphia Sixers starters where they averaged close to -20 apiece. If you had Maxey, Embiid, or Paul George in your lineup, you likely didn’t have a good day. With the drama around Jimmy Butler in Miami, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Heat starters had a rough day at the office also.

With three (3) days remaining, we are down to the final 12 Fast Break participants who remain perfect. None of the remaining days are “easy” though so that number is likely to dwindle with each passing day. More importantly is what is happening in the next tier as participants with one or two losses are jockeying for position to land in the top 500 which at this point is a game of survival while placing at a decent level as standing will dictate final results in the inevitable tie. Put your best foot forward based on your remaining player options and manifest you a win today.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 11 requires five (5) players who will reject five or more shots and accumulate five or more steals, which means your lineup will need to average 1.0 BLK & 1.0 STL per player. There are a handful of defensive-minded players who can contribute in both categories and there are those who specialize in one category or another. For example, Wemby could single-handedly get you 5+ rebounds. Fortunately the thresholds are low, so you have flexibility in taking a moneyball approach to utilize specialists. Speaking of specialists, if you plan on starting Dyson Daniels, be sure to confirm his status before the game tips off as he missed his last game and isn’t guaranteed to play today. Now, let’s dig into the projections and stats to help you map out a viable strategy to earn a win today.

  • Little of Both: Jaren Jackson, Anthony Davis, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jakob Poeltl, Goga Bitadze

  • Shot Blockers: Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Davis, Goga Bitadze, Alexandre Sarr, Jaren Jackson, Jakob Poeltl, Dereck Lively, Kristaps Porzingis, Yves Missi, Zach Edey

  • Thieves: Dyson Daniels, Dejounte Murray, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Herbert Jones, Russell Westbrook, Jalen Suggs, Jordan Poole, Fred VanVleet, Jaren Jackson, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chris Paul, Donovan Mitchell, Cason Wallace, Alex Caruso, Nikola Jokic, LaMelo Ball, Jamal Murray, Josh Hart, Alperen Sengun, DeMar DeRozan, Jalen Johnson, OG Anunoby, Anthony Davis, Scottie Barnes, Trae Young, Ausar Thompson, Desmond Bane, Jaylen Brown, Darius Garland

  • Top Five (5) Players in FB Lineups: J. Jackson (68%), G. Bitadze (38%), O. Anunoby (34%), E. Mobley (33%), D. Daniels (27)

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, 50 points in the paint and 12 offensive rebounds are the two objectives and there are 18 teams in action

  • Objectives (after today): OREB, AST-TO, PIP

Considerations:

  • Twelve (12) teams have the least number of games remaining (1)

  • The rest have two (2) games remaining

  • Boston, LA Lakers, and Oklahoma City are playing the tail end of a back-to-back

  • Dallas’s last game of this run is today

Jalen Williams contributed a +33 and I was on track for a big win…but then Paul George & Tyrese Maxey combined for -50 and my hopes were dashed. Stuck at 6 wins with three to play. Winning out is the only way to nine. Day 11, let’s go.
