Recap & Overview:
Happy New Year’s Day to you, wherever you are in the world. With eight (8) games on the slate today, you will not be short on options but you will be limited on players who can shown they can consistently score above the required threshold. 74% of the lineup earned a win yesterday thanks to some big rebounding performances by a handful of players. Not included in that list of players is Ivica Zubac, who was projected to accumulate 14 rebounds against the Celtics, but stopped halfway at 7 in a 54 point blowout loss - ouch. Not to add salt in the wound, but it also earned him the Fast Break Dud of the Day and put some lineups in a bind early. Jarrett Allen saved the day for many lineups as he delivered 14 rebounds against the Lakers, which made all the difference for many on Fast Break Day 8 for the 74% who started him. He only had one (1) more rebound than Jakob Poeltl (13), but it is enough to earn the Fast Break Stud of the Day.
22 perfect records remain in this run and we’ve crested the 8,000 participant mark again with four days to go. By our estimates, we’ll land around 8,800 participants by the end of Run 6, which is in line with previous runs. In a recent podcast with Collectin & Connectin (December 31, 2024: YouTube | Spotify), Roham mentioned the focus on onboarding new collectors from NBA.ID and other sources. There was a number of other interesting tidbits mentioned throughout that podcast, so be sure to give it a view or listen if you have not done so already. Whether these conversions translate to longer-term collectors and/or Fast Break participants will come into focus as the season continues on, but the 10,000 participant mark will be a meaningful barometer of success and interest.
While we’re on the topic of success, let’s get into the data to maximize your chances of earning a win today.

Fast Break Day 9 requires five (5) players who will score 125 or more points, which means your lineup will need to average 25.0 PTS per player. Single objectives are straightforward, but not necessarily easy. Based on projections and last 10 games, there are only two (2) players who are projected and have averaged above 25.0 points scored, so you’ll likely need to sprinkle your lineup with additional players who are scoring at least 20 points per game and has the ability to score more on any given night. You’ll want some wiggle room to allow underperformers to not pull down your entire lineup.
