Locked-In and Letting Loose: Thunder Stay Perfect as Warriors and Heat Flex Their Depth

NBA Recap: October 28, 2025

Yesterday’s five games brought a mix of lopsided wins and rising-star moments as several teams flexed their early-season form. Golden State clamped down on the Clippers 98–79 at Chase Center, holding LA to just 30 second-half points. Stephen Curry hit a signature step-back three in the fourth, but it was Jonathan Kuminga (25 points, 10 rebounds) and Brandin Podziemski (23 points, 6 assists) who led the charge in a balanced Warriors attack.

In Miami, the Heat torched the Hornets 144–117 behind a red-hot shooting night and a 67.5% win probability that proved spot-on. Meanwhile, Milwaukee bounced back from a recent loss to beat the Knicks 121–111, powered by a strong night for Giannis (37 points, 8 rebounds, & 7 assists) and a career night from Ryan Rollins, who dropped 25 points on perfect 4-for-4 shooting from deep.

Tyrese Maxey stayed hot with 39 points in the 76ers’ 139–134 overtime win over the Wizards, while the Thunder edged the Kings 107–101 to remain unbeaten at 5–0. OKC’s defense locked in late, stifling Sacramento’s comeback bid. The Bucks and Warriors now sit at 3–1 and 4–1 respectively, continuing their early-season climb.

From breakout performances to defensive masterclasses, yesterday was a reminder that even a week into the season, teams are already carving out their identities—and some young stars are making serious noise.

NBA Fast Break Results: Day 8

On Day 8, we returned to a majority win day as over 80% walked away happy. Domantas Sabonis was our top recommended player yesterday and he was utilized in 77% of lineups. For those Fast Breakers, he delivered a head-turning 18 rebounds. If he was your captain, he delivered 27 total rebounds, which easily earned him the Fast Break Stud of the Day.

Josh Hart, on the other hand, was the fourth most utilized player (46%) and he had a terrible rebounding day as he only had 4 rebounds. His performance earned him the Fast Break Dud of the Day award.

Today’s Fast Break Objective(s): Day 9 of 13

Objective(s): 45 Field Goals Made & 55 Field Goal Attempts (9.0 FGM & 11.0 FGA)

You’ll need five (5) players who will make 45.0 or more and take 55.0 or more shots, which means each player will need to average 9.0 FGM & 11.0 FGA. The objectives are manageable, but they’re also high enough where a single player can derail your day. There are a number of players who can get you both — especially if your captain turns in a positive performance.

Top Player Options:

  • Shot Makers & Takers: Zach LaVine, Jamal Murray, Lauri Markkanen, Austin Reaves, Donovan Mitchell, Pascal Siakam

  • Top Five (5) Players in Pro Lineups: D. Mitchell (45%) | Z. LaVine (38%) | J. Murray (37%) | L. Markkanen (36%) | J. Brown (35%)

Upcoming Fast Break Objectives:

  • Objectives remaining (after today): AST-TO, AST, BLK, STL, PITP, 3PM, 3PA

  • Tomorrow Objective(s): 20 Assists minus Turnovers (4.0 AST-TO)

Considerations:

  • Thirteen (13) teams have the most games remaining (3)

  • Seventeen (17) teams have the least games remaining (2)

  • Day 9 (today) has 20 teams in action, so they’ll have the most flexibility

  • Day 10 (tomorrow) only has eight teams in action, so that’ll be the least flexible day remaining

  • The always challenging AST-TO objective will be on Day 10 (tomorrow)

  • The Emirates NBA Cup tips on in early November

Statistical Approach:

Top players in field goals made & field goal attempts according to Rotowire & NBA.com, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 (when available), and season averages, which is stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. When there is a single objective, the three data points are still used to stack rank the players vs. ranking solely on projections. For tome+ members, all active player stats are available in the provided data file. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Witty’s Fast Break Challenge:

In NBA Fast Break, how often you can use a player depends on the value of their moments—measured by average sale price. That system can put newer and/or smaller collectors at a disadvantage, limiting their ability to compete. This segment is designed to level the playing field, giving resourceful collectors a shot at rewards and proving that smart strategy can still win, even without a stacked collection.

Check back daily to see our lineup, adjustments along the way, and how we do with lineups that are capped to a single use per run.
